‘The sun leans down to whisper that a new day is dawning.
She wakes me with her bright smile, each and every morning.’
In real life, the sun can not smile or whisper. In stories and poems,
we can write about things, like the sun, as if they were people who
could do these things and think and feel.
Writing and speaking about animals and objects in this
way is called personification. It can make stories and
poems fun, interesting and imaginative.
Imagine your classroom ‘becomes alive’ at night. Choose two things in the
classroom, draw them as characters and write what they might be like.
