Antonyms<br />
Some words are opposite in meaning to others.<br />
They are called antonyms.<br />
1. Finish these sentences by writing an antonym for the word in bold print.<br />
(a) A washing machine makes dirty clothes become .<br />
(b) Some animals sleep during the day <strong>and</strong> come out at .<br />

his cousins. He could tell from the time he opened his eyes that it was<br />
going to be a hot day. His room was light <strong>and</strong> the air felt warm. He<br />
quickly got out of bed <strong>and</strong> went upstairs. His father <strong>and</strong> sister were<br />
looking out the back window.<br />
‘Hi Ethan’, his dad said with a smile on his face.<br />
‘Look how sunny <strong>and</strong> dry it is today. It’s going to be a<br />
beautiful summer’s day. A great day to be outside.’<br />
