which the retreading market has shrunk 25 to 30 per cent and the<br />
new replacement tyre market 30 to 40 per cent, it is extremely important<br />
to have a product range that covers all market requirements,<br />
Hämmerling continues. Yet even if demand now once again<br />
recovers, it wouldn’t be possible to reach the level of turnover obtained<br />
in the previous year. “The decline during the first six months<br />
can no longer be compensated for.” And while the Hämmerling<br />
Group managing director also senses “small positive signals”, he<br />
indicates that a fundamental improvement in the situation may admittedly<br />
not occur before the middle of next year.<br />
In the previous months a large proportion of customers who<br />
sell retreaded truck tyres have drastically reduced their stock levels.<br />
Even well known chains now have only minimal stocks on<br />
hand, which means that “truck customers in part – including those<br />
using current sizes – cannot be catered for because there are no<br />
products in stock,” explained Hämmerling. At the same time logistics<br />
costs have increased dramatically, because the “number of<br />
units that we send out in small quantities by haulier each day have<br />

Ein Großteil der Kunden, die auch runderneuerte Lkw-Reifen<br />
vermarkten, hat in den vergangenen Monaten ihre Lagerbestände<br />
drastisch reduziert. Selbst namhafte Filialisten hätten nur noch Minimalbestände<br />
vorrätig, was dazu führt, „dass die Lkw-Kunden<br />
teilweise – auch mit aktuellen Größen – nicht bedient werden können,<br />
weil keine Ware am Lager ist“, erläutert Hämmerling. Gleichzeitig<br />
stiegen die Logistikkosten dramatisch an, da sich die „Stückzahlen,<br />
die wir in Kleinstmengen täglich per <strong>Spe</strong>dition versenden,<br />
schlichtweg verdoppelt haben“.<br />
