Financial accounting is an applied discipline, which was and still is subject to ongoing and fundamental changes in recent years.<br />
Thus students are required dealing with prevailing alteration, an ongoing process, which does not end with graduation. Hence,<br />
this course is designed to satisfy the demands of students and practitioners to the same extent. A discussion of current topics<br />
is the goal of this course.<br />
Topics include but are not limited to accounting for lease transactions, accounting for financial instruments, hedge accounting,<br />
accounting for stock based compensation, accounting for special purpose entities, special industry accounting, recent regulative<br />
changes in standard setting and corporate governance, valuation based on accounting information, earnings management.<br />
