Prse hBK [ Materialschlacht
Dienstag
ab 04.11.08
wichtige rolle spielen.
Prse hBK [ understanding dada
Blockveranstaltung
01/304
ab 6.11.08
the Dadaists challenged the very concept of art, refuting unique
authorship as well as traditional artistic materials and techniques.
When Dada began to earn recognition in the late 1950s, many of
the fragile works illustrated in contemporary documents had been
lost or destroyed. the aim of my reconstruction of the international
Dada Fair of 1920 (within the exhibition stationen der moderne,
Berlinische galerie, 1988 West Berlin) was to trigger a new
understanding of Dada through the physical experience of the
works in their original context. the reconstruction project raised
complex practical issues. is it legitimate to deal with Dada in such
a way? how can a reconstruction contribute to Dada research?
Which are the criteria for reproductions and reconstructions? can
they be presented in a museum context? the course will address
our understanding of Dada on the background of forms of
presentation and how these change with time. the course is for
both artists and art historians: A grade may be obtained through
research for and production of a reconstruction.
