In unserer neuen Ausgabe des SCCH Magazins rücken
wir die beiden Themen Fördermöglichkeiten für Forschungsprojekte
und Neues aus der Bildverarbeitung in
den Mittelpunkt.
Für viele Unternehmen sind Ausgaben für längerfristige
Forschungsprojekte kaum leistbar. Dabei gibt es unzählige
regionale, nationale und internationale Förderprogramme.
Allerdings, bei dieser Fülle den Überblick
zu bewahren, ist schwierig. So gibt es für den Einstieg
recht unkomplizierte Fördermaßnahmen wie zum
Beispiel den Innovationsscheck. Gerade für den Erstkontakt
mit einem Forschungszentrum ist ein Innovationsscheck
ideal.
Verschiedene
Förderprogramme unterstützen unterschiedliche
Phasen eines Projekts. Daher macht es oft Sinn,
Teilprojekte in verschiedenen Förderprogrammen
aneinanderzureihen. Langfristige Forschungsprojekte
des Forschungsschwerpunkts Knowledge-Based Vision
Systems.
Our new issue of the SCCH magazine highlights funding
options for research projects and new aspects of
image processing.
Many companies can scarcely bear the expense of longrange
research projects. While there are numerous
regional, national and international funding programs,
their sheer multitude makes it difficult to retain an
overview. For newcomers, there are uncomplicated
funding measures such as the Innovation Check, which
is ideal for initial contact with a research center. This
funding instrument facilitates the development of initial
ideas, planning of their realization, or even the implementation
of smaller tasks. Continued development
of the research project requires the planning of both
content and funding. Different research programs support
different phases of a project. Thus it often makes
sense to sequentially organize subprojects within different
funding programs. Long-range research programs
can also be conducted at SCCH in the realm of the
COMET program; however, for this funding period, this
funding source is almost completely exhausted. Still, it
pays to inquire!
In image processing, this issue focuses particularly
on quality inspection for textiles. This is a particular
strength of SCCH in the realm of its research topic
Knowledge-Based Vision Systems.

Forschungsprojekt starten. Gerade bei KMUs sind die
finanziellen Mittel für Forschung meist begrenzt, daher
helfen wir ihnen Fördergelder zu bekommen“, berichtet
Dr. Klaus Pirklbauer, Geschäftsführer des Software
Competence Center Hagenberg. Als COMET-K1 Zentrum
ist das SCCH nicht nur im COMET-Programm
aktiv, sondern auch in verschiedenen anderen Forschungsprogrammen.
„Kombiniert man geschickt, ist es oft
möglich eine ganze Kette von Förderungen
in Anspruch zu nehmen. In
zahlreichen Programmen haben wir
bereits erfolgreich Kundenprojekte
abgewickelt“, so Pirklbauer.
4 Scch MAGAZINe 1/2012
“SCCH is often contacted by enterprises who want
to launch a research project. Particularly SMEs have
limited financial means for research; therefore we
help them to acquire public funding,” reports Dr.
Klaus Pirklbauer, CEO of Software Competence Center
Hagenberg. As a COMET K1 Center, SCCH is active not
only in the COMET program but also in various other
research programs.
“If you combine skillfully, you can build a chain of subsidies.
We have already conducted successful customer
projects in many funding programs,” says Pirklbauer.
The funding instrument that is most often used by
SMEs at SCCH is the Innovation Check, where there
are two variants: the smaller Innovation Check of
€ 5,000 (without the company’s own contribution)
und Innovation Check Plus € 10,000 (with the company’s
own contribution). SMEs whose application is
approved by FFG receive a non-repayable subsidy and
zukaufen. Bis jetzt wurden 14 kleine Innovationsschecks
und vier Innovationsschecks Plus am SCCH
abgewickelt.
Technik bzw. Komplexität, das damit verbundene
Risiko sowie die kommerzielle Umsetzbarkeit unter
Berücksichtigung der vorhandenen Durchführungskompetenz
und der nachweislichen Förderwirkung.
Klein- und Mittelbetriebe sind zudem berechtigt, Förderungsansuchen
zu technischen Durchführbarkeitsstudien
zur Vorbereitung der industriellen Forschung
oder der experimentellen Entwicklung sowie Ansuchen
für Vorbereitungsarbeiten für nationale und europäische
forschungs- und technologieorientierte, wirtschaftlich
umsetzbare Projekte zu stellen. Das Projekt
mit der Firma AUDIO MOBIL Elektronik GmbH wurde
can use it to purchase research services from research
facilities.
So far 14 small Innovation Checks
and four Innovation Checks Plus have
been handled at SCCH.
Depending on in which province the enterprise has
its headquarters, various additional subsidies can be
utilized. Upper Austria, for example, has the initiative
easy2innovate; here a larger R&D project can be
launched after a successful Innovation Check. A maximum
of € 20,000 is available for the overall project.
The next step in the funding chain may be FFG’s basis
program, where projects can be submitted regardless
of topical focus. Significant are a high requirement
regarding technology and complexity, the associated
risks, the commercial feasibility with consideration of
available execution competency, and the demonstrable
effect of funding. Small and medium-sized enterprises
are also authorized to request funding for technical
feasibility studies to prepare for industrial research or
experimental development, as well as to submit applications
for preparatory work for national and European
research and technology-oriented, economically
feasible projects. For example, the project with AUDIO
MOBIL Elektronik GmbH was realized at SCCH in the
realm of basic funding.
Another national program line is COIN (Cooperation
& Innovation), which strives to improve Austrian
innovation performance through better and broader
application of knowledge and invention. COIN aims
to stimulate research and technological development
of companies, especially SMEs. A significant aspect
of COIN is its promotion of increased cooperation between
companies and universities and non-university
research facilities and thus more efficient transfer of

Österreichs durch bessere und breitere
Umsetzung von Wissen in Innovation zu stärken. COIN
die Entwicklung neuen Wissens oder neuer Technologien
zur Verbesserung der europäischen Wettbewerbsfähigkeit)
zusammengefasst. Durchgeführt werden sie
von Konsortien, die sich aus Teilnehmern verschiedener
Länder aus Industrie und Forschung zusammensetzten.
Aufgrund der rasant wachsenden Komplexität von softwaregestützten
Anwendungen in den unterschiedlichsten
industriellen, kommerziellen und wissenschaftlichen
Bereichen stellt die Modellierung von Systemen
und Systemumgebungen eine zentrale Herausforderung
in der Softwaretechnik dar. Deshalb wird das Projekt
Vertical Model Integration (VMI) vom Programm
bzw. Modellierungsinkonsistenz. Das bedeutet,
dass innerhalb eines Unternehmens auf verschiedenen
softwaretechnisch relevanten Informations- und Kontrollebenen
typischerweise unterschiedliche Modellierungskonzepte,
-verfahren und -sichten zum Einsatz
8 Scch MAGAZINe 1/2012
EN
Due to the rising complexity of software-aided applications
in a broad range of industrial, commercial and
scientific fields, the modeling of systems and system
environments is a core challenge in software engineering.
Therefore the project Vertical Model Integration
(VMI) is being funded by the program Regional
Competitiveness Upper Austria 2007 – 2013, by the
European Regional Development Fund, and by the
province of Upper Austria. A total of 3 million euro has
been allocated for basic research through 2013.
The starting point is the vertical heterogeneity and inconsistency
of modeling in commercial practice today.
This means that within a company at different information
and control levels relevant to software engineering,
typically different modeling concepts, methods and
layers are in use. This heterogeneity and inconsistency
prevents or limits the implementation of software
systems, run-time environments and software-based
kommen.
folgende Zielsetzungen verfolgt:
• Das formale Verständnis von Modellen verbessern,
besonders beim Aufbau von Softwaresystemen und
im Bereich der Datenanalyse.
• Die Integration von Modellen, sowohl horizontal
(Kombination verschiedener Modellkomponenten),
als auch vertikal (Kombination verschiedener Abstraktionsebenen).
In der nächsten Ausgabe wird auf das 2. Teilprojekt
Computational Model Environment (CME) eingegangen.
Jetzt wird das Teilprojekt High-Level Modeling
(HLM) beschrieben.
production platforms that permit adequate vertical
consistency of operative, strategic and tactical flows
and processes. This restricts the flexibility (e.g., regarding
changes in product requirements) and in the end
the competitiveness of the overall company.
Therefore the project Vertical Model Integration pursues
the following goals:
• Improvement of the formal understanding of models,
especially in the structure of software systems and in
data analysis
• Integration of models both horizontally (combination
of different model components) and vertically (combination
of different levels of abstraction)
In next issue we will discuss the second subproject,
Computational Model Environment (CME). Here we
discuss the subproject High-Level Modeling (HLM).
Every company has various processes in its daily business.
These processes can be job flows in management
or processes in production. They are core components
of the company. Therefore for more than a decade there
have been intensive efforts to describe and improve
these processes and to support them with software.
There are already software solutions that support companies
in modeling and implementing processes, but
there is room for improvement.
The origin of description languages for business
processes is requirements definition. Therefore these
languages aim to depict all possible elements, and it often
becomes unclear what is meant in individual parts
of the process model. However, systematic translation
of high-level models into executable models demands
unambiguous and formally founded specification of
processes.
MAT MOdelS, ARchITecTUReS ANd TOOlS
rungen.
BPMN (Business Process Modeling Notation).
Dabei wird BPMN auf das Notwendigste abgespeckt,
aber auch um zusätzlich notwendige Sprachelemente
ergänzt. Spezielles Augenmerk wird auf die Modellierung
von Akteuren, Strukturierung von Sub-Prozessen,
10 Scch MAGAZINe 1/2012
“Current solutions often vest in finished
components that can be interconnected
via a process description
language. This often requires adapting
the company to the software,
which we feel cannot be the solution,”
says Dr. Bernhard Freudenthaler,
who heads the project at SCCH.
SCCH’s solution improves Business Process Modeling
Notation (BPMN). This notation is trimmed to the
lean basics, but also extended by necessary language
elements. Special attention was paid to the modeling
of actors, structuring of sub-processes, and communication
and integration with other models (data).
The formal basis is defined by the specification of the
modeling language via Abstract State Machines (ASM).
This enables checking the formal correctness of models.
Kommunikation und Integration mit anderen Modellen
(Daten) gelegt. Die formale Basis wird durch die
Spezifikation der Modellierungssprache mit Hilfe von
Abstract State Machines (ASM) definiert.
SCHWERPUNKT FORSCHUNG / FOCUS RESEARCH
How to check a BPMN 2.0 specification with the help of
an ontology is a concrete research result of the subproject
High-Level Modeling.
The BPMN specification is very extensive; therefore all
syntactic rules were combined in an ontology that consists
of two parts and contains the complete metamodel
of BPMN 2.0 in a base ontology and all textually described
rules in an extension. The main purpose of the
BPMN 2.0 Ontology is to enable its use as a knowledge
base. In the Ontology, the 550-page BPMN specification
requires only ca. 260 classes, which describe the
respective restrictions.
Christine Natschläger, who developed the Ontology, describes
its primary benefits as follows: “The overview of
inherited restrictions is much better. Formal definition
enabled us to identify more than 30 contradictions in
the BPMN specification. The Ontology can also be used
to check the syntactic correctness of concrete BPMN
models. Compared to other syntax checkers, an ontology
enables conclusions; e.g., a BPMN element with
certain attributes implies a concrete sub-element for
which further restrictions must be checked.”
The BPMN 2.0 Ontology is available for download
under Creative Commons license (CC BY-NC-SA 3.0)
for software engineering, and the resulting methods
have been successfully applied in numerous industrial
projects.
ASMs can be useful for anyone who needs software
and/or hardware specifications. ASMs enable a transition
from natural-language requirements definitions to
precise and consistent specifications.
“Formulation of software specifications often results in
misunderstandings. Exact descriptions are necessary at
all abstraction levels to preclude the ambiguities of natural
language,” explains Prof. Dr. Klaus-Dieter Schewe
of Software Competence Center Hagenberg. Misunderstandings
and inconsistencies that surface during
development or even during testing cause a multiple of
the costs of thorough and precise specification.
Formal methods enable translating requirements into
unambiguous and precise specifications. However, the
problem is that strictly formal methods are incomprehensible
for many clients and indeed even for developers.
Furthermore, such methods are necessary only
in special cases that are critical in terms of security or
safety.
gesetzt werden. Das Problem ist allerdings, dass streng
formale Methoden für viele Auftraggeber, aber sogar
für Entwickler, unverständlich sind. Außerdem sind
solche Methoden nur in speziellen, besonders sicherheitskritischen
Fällen wirklich notwendig.
Alternativ dazu kann die ASM-Methode eingesetzt
werden. Hier wird auf eine formal fixierte Syntax verzichtet;
dennoch kann die gewünschte Funktionalität
präzise ausgedrückt werden, da hinter der Semantik
von ASMs eine mathematisch abgesicherte Theorie
steht.
Dieter Schewe.
13 Scch MAGAZINe 1/2012
Alternatively, the ASM method can be used. Here there
is no formally prescribed syntax; still, the required
functionality can be specified precisely because the
semantics of ASMs are backed by mathematically
founded theory. This enables easily comprehensible yet
nonetheless precise description of the required functionality
of software and hardware.
Felix Kossak of SCCH describes the most important benefits
as follows: “It is easy to translate the specification
into a simulatable model for testing and experimenting.
Stepwise the specification can be refined toward the
implementation, whereby mathematical methods check
and document the adherence to important attributes.”
ASMs can be used in any discipline.
Proven application domains include business process
software, railway control systems, monitoring systems
for the coast guard, and the specification of programming
languages and virtual machines. ASMs can play
an important role for software quality by significantly
supporting validation and testing as well as formal
verification.
“At SCCH we seek to promote application-oriented
research using ASMs in our projects in order to provide
an exact development method for exact formulation of
requirements and their implementation in reliable software,”
explains the scientific director of SCCH, Prof.
A research cooperation with Software Competence Center
Hagenberg is developing totally innovative interaction
concepts for the operation and configuration of
complex sound engineering systems. Intuitive operation
and a reduction of the complexity of the graphical
different input masks were required for configuration
and operation of such systems; in the future, however,
a consistent and highly flexible interaction model will
deliver the required reduction of complexity; capacitive
multitouch operating panels will enable intuitive
equalizer curves, or switching audio channels.
Wir benutzen täglich verschiedenste technische
Textilien. Solche auf anspruchsvolle Einsatzgebiete
abgestimmte Gewebe (spezielle Funktionsbekleidung,
Sitzbezüge, Autointerieur, Gewebe für die Papierproduktion,
Sicherheits- und Klettergurte, Airbagschläuche,
…) müssen hohe Qualitätsstandards erfüllen.
Daher ist es notwendig, während des Produktionsprozesses
ihre Qualität laufend und genau zu überprüfen.
Um die Qualitätsprüfung mit Hilfe von optischen
Aufnahmeverfahren zu verbessern, wurde das internationale
Forschungsprojekt texQuality3D – welches vom
Software Competence Center Hagenberg koordiniert
wird – im EraSME - Programm gestartet.
Every day we use a range of industrial textiles. Designed
for demanding application domains (e.g.,
specialized functional clothing, seat covers, automotive
interiors, paper production, seat belts, climbing
harnesses, airbag hoses), such fabrics must meet high
quality standards. This necessitates continuous and
precise quality control during the production process.
The international research project texQuality3D,
coordinated by Software Competence Center Hagenberg,
has been launched within the EraSME program to
improve quality control via optical techniques.
Human quality inspection varies from person to person
and depends on his/her daily constitution. Therefore
Die menschliche Qualitätsbeurteilung
fällt oft von Person zu Person unterschiedlich
aus und hängt von der Tagesverfassung
des Prüfpersonals ab.
Deshalb liegt das Hauptaugenmerk in diesem Forschungsprojekt
auf der Automatisierung der Qualitätsinspektion.
Das Ziel ist, ein gleichbleibendes Qualitätslevel
und wiederholbare Beurteilungsergebnisse zu
erhalten.
Eine Herausforderung ist die Vielfältigkeit der Produktpalette
mit der ein Prüfsystem umgehen können muss.
Außerdem gibt es noch dem jeweiligen industriellen
Umfeld entsprechende Zusatzanforderungen, wie zum
Beispiel hohe Taktraten bzw. Prüfgeschwindigkeiten
oder eine auf die unterschiedlichen Qualitätskriterien
der Endkunden angepasste Erkennung bzw. Einteilung
der Fehlerkandidaten. Ein Lösungsansatz muss solchen
Anforderungen gerecht werden und muss daher neueste
Hard- und Softwarekonzepte kombinieren.
Im Forschungsprojekt texQuality3D ist das SCCH für
die Weiterentwicklung der entsprechenden
Detektionsalgorithmen verantwortlich. Dies erfolgt
auch in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Research Institute
for Symbolic Computation (RISC) der Johannes Kepler
Universität. Unter anderem konnte dabei eine wesentliche
Verbesserung der Auswertungsgeschwindigkeit erzielt
werden. Ein weiterer Forschungspartner ist die FH
Rosenheim.
machen.
SCHWERPUNKT FORSCHUNG / FOCUS RESEARCH
this research project focuses on automation of quality
inspection with the goal of assuring a consistent level of
quality and achieving repeatable evaluation results.
A challenge is the broad product range that an inspection
system must handle. Further, each respective
industrial field has its own special requirements such as
high cycle rates and speed of inspection, and detection
and classification of defect candidates can be adapted
to the varying quality criteria of customers. A solution
must handle such requirements and so must combine
the latest hardware and software concepts.
In the research project texQuality3D, SCCH is responsible
for the further development of corresponding
detection algorithms. This is done in cooperation with
the Research Institute for Symbolic Computation
(RISC) of Johannes Kepler University Linz. A significant
improvement of evaluation speed has already been
achieved. Another research partner is the University of
Applied Sciences in Rosenheim (Germany). Together
with in-situ GmbH, the university is targeting the adaptation
of an innovative shape-from-shading camera
system for use in inspection of continuous materials.
SCCH has already been granted a patent for its defect
detection method. Now the research project is striving
to make the time-consuming computations fit for use in
a production environment.
The basis of the method is a machine learning process
based on novelty detection using a clustering approach
via support vector machines (SVMs). This approach
promises to accelerate evaluation speed. The innovative
approach of this method is its detection of deviations
independently of certain defect values and its concentration
instead on recording the attributes of the defectfree
structure. Variations and values of the structure to
be inspected are recorded, and the inspection detects
and reports deviations from the normal structure. This
saves users from compiling a complete list of potential
KVS kNOWledGe-BASed vISION SySTeMS
Support Vector Machines (SVM) basiert.
gemeldet. Das erspart das aufwendige Erstellen einer
vollständigen Fehlersammlung, welche meistens –
bedingt durch die Variationsbandbreite von Defektausprägungen
– gar nicht möglich ist.
Der Prozess der Fehlerlokalisierung / The process of defect lokalization
defects, which is often not even possible due to the
sheer bandwidth of possible defects.
Textile surfaces often have more than a two-dimensional
pattern or texture; weaving of the fibers automatically
creates a three-dimensional profile. Use of this
additional height information for quality control is a
further goal of texQuality3D. Here the project employs
a multiple camera, multiple light source system
that creates a 3D profile via the shadows from light of
various wavelengths and from different perspectives;
the collected data are fed to the evaluation algorithms.
Here again the focus is on accelerating the recording
process to enable application in an industrial environment.
For both the evaluation software and the recording
hardware, improvements have advanced so far that the
next step will combine them to an overall system. This
will enable utilization by the industrial partners.
Die Oberflächen von Textilien haben oftmals nicht
nur eine zweidimensionale Musterung bzw. Textur,
sondern bedingt durch das Verweben einzelner
Fäden entsteht auch automatisch ein 3-dimensionales
Profil.
SCHWERPUNKT FORSCHUNG / FOCUS RESEARCH
2014 SCCH will be collaborating on the development of
methods to improve analytics, optimization and control
of chemical processes. This enables significant savings
on costs, energy and raw materials with greater output
and better product quality.
Presently infrared spectroscopy is seen as an important
technology because, in combination with corresponding
modeling, it enables the development of virtual
sensors for many chemically relevant process parameters
(chemometry). These sensors primarily use near
infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), which is well suited for
inline measurement.
“In Data Analysis Systems, we are responsible for data
analysis and modeling. The goal is to develop improved
methods in chemometry. Here we rely on our many
years of experience in the field of data-driven modeling,
e.g., machine learning and data mining,” says SCCH
project manager Dr. Thomas Natschläger. He reports
that important problems that are currently being studied
include automatic selection of a spectral range to
be analyzed so that a robust virtual sensor is achieved,
and the development of methods for efficient transfer
of models from one application scenario to another
similar one.
Research work within PAC is motivated by specific
problems and processes of the involved industrial partners.
This ensures direct benefits for these partners.
The applications involved in the project range from the
analysis and optimization of the production of viscous
fibers, to researching the quality-relevant parameters
for plastic granulate, to quality assurance in beer production,
and to ensuring absolute purity of gases.
The research cooperation between Software Competence
Center Hagenberg and the software firm DGR
DatenverarbeitungsgesmbH began seven years ago.
The Upper Austrian enterprise offers a complete ERP
solution for the construction industry, especially for
HVAC.
“With our limited research budget, financing via subsidies
was always of interest,” says DGR CEO Dipl.-Ing.
Robert Rosenauer. “We launched our first project with
SCCH in 2004 under the K plus program. We were
seeking external experts to optimally help us in upgrading
the existing software and introducing innovative
aspects. The solution was a completely novel software
architecture that was developed on an ultramodern
platform at SCCH. This platform was open and flexible
and provided a user interface with a modern look and
feel. Our goal was to find a solution for users that covers
all branch details and affords the full comfort of a
modern rich client interface.”
The first phase of the COMET program produced a
further improvement of specialized software components.
General access components and solutions for
ERP systems were designed and developed on the basis
of the Eclipse Rich Client Platform, Eclipse Modeling
Framework and EJB 3 (Enterprise JavaBeans). One
of the most important requirements was executability
on different platforms (Windows, Linux, IBM-i5). The
solution is based on Java Open Source technology,
bringing the additional benefits of easy extensibility.
“We participated in the COMET program because at
SCCH we found an interdisciplinary team including
software architects, database experts and software
quality specialists as well as a scientific network. Our
participation in the COMET program led to greater
interest in subsidy funding,” says Rosenauer.
“Future-oriented enterprises keep an eye on technological
developments and utilize scientific partnerships
and the numerous subsidies in Upper Austria in
„Vorrausschauende Unternehmen behalten neue technologische
presentation of the award of recognition
26 Scch MAGAZINe 1/2012
On 22 November 2011 Mag. Friedrich Faulhammer
presented the award of recognition of the Federal Ministry
for Science and Research to Dipl.-Ing. (FH)
Verena Geist for her outstanding achievements during
her studies.
Her PhD of technical sciences will be
awarded at Johannes Kepler University
Linz under the auspices of Austrian
President Dr. Heinz Fischer on
18 April 2012.
Her dissertation research on “Integrated, executable
specification for Business Processes and System
dialogs” was conducted at the Institute for Application-
Oriented Knowledge Processing at the JKU with her
advisor a.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Josef Küng.
In modern software projects, rapid development and a
flexible IT architecture are important success factors.
Likewise clear semantics and simple handling of business
processes are significant. In her dissertation, Geist
presents a novel, type-based approach for the integration
of workflow management and application programming
and thereby tackles a fundamental problem
in the field of business process managements.
“In my dissertation I developed a fundamental technology-
and platform-independent concept that enables
flexible process technology via complete integration
of business processes and system dialogs. The typed
workflow specification language has clear semantics for
generation of executable code from formal descriptions
and thus achieves significant improvements for the development
of process-oriented enterprise applications,”
reports Geist.
The core of the integrated business process and dialog
specification is the typed workflow chart as a tripartite,
directed graph. Workflow charts enhance the two-level,
dungsprogrammierung und beschäftigt sich somit mit
einem grundlegenden Problem aus dem Bereich des
Geschäftsprozessmanagements.
„In meiner Dissertation habe ich ein grundlegendes,
technologie- und plattformunabhängiges Konzept
entwickelt, das eine flexible Prozesstechnologie durch
vollständige Integration von Geschäftsprozessen und
Systemdialogen ermöglicht. Die typisierte Workflowspezifikationssprache
besitzt klare Semantiken zur
Generierung von ausführbarem Code aus formalen
Beschreibungen und erreicht somit signifikante Verbesserungen
für die Entwicklung von prozessorientierten
Unternehmensanwendungen“, so Verena Geist.
Das Kernstück der integrierten Geschäftsprozess- und
Dialogspezifikation bildet das typisierte
Workflow-Chart als tripartiter, gerichteter Graph.
Workflow-Charts erweitern die zweistufige, einzelbenutzerbasierte
Mensch-Computer-Interaktion von
Formcharts um die Unterstützung von Benutzer- und
Rollenmodellen, die Einführung von Arbeitslisten,
Parallelismus und Synchronisation sowie die Detektion
von komplexen Dialogen. Eine integrierte Entwicklungsumgebung
basierend auf Workflow-Charts bietet
uneingeschränkten Gestaltungsfreiraum für Systemdialoge
in workflowintensiven Systemen und unterstützt
wesentliche Prinzipien für Software Engineering, wie
Benutzerfreundlichkeit, Wartbarkeit und Wiederverwendbarkeit.
„Als Forschungseinrichtung möchten wir unsere
Forscherinnen optimal unterstützen. Wir haben ein
internes PhD-Unterstützungsprogramm und ermutigen
speziell unsere Forscherinnen sich wissenschaftlich
weiter zu qualifizieren und eine wissenschaftliche
Karriere einzuschlagen“, erklärt SCCH CEO Dr. Klaus
Pirklbauer.
steigern“, so Pirklbauer.
spielen. Folglich betonen anwendungsorientierte
Projekte die Verwendung integrierter Methoden und
Architekturen. Da viele Anwendungen in einem produktionsorientierten
Kontext stehen, ist die Forschung
zudem bereichsspezifischen Ansätzen und Sprachen
gewidmet.
Der Fokus auf Integration und formal verifizierbarer
Software bezieht sich auch auf datenintensive Systeme.
Schlüsselprobleme für die Forschung sind dabei
die formale Integration von Massendatenstrukturen,
28 Scch MAGAZINe 1/2012
Naturally, for a software competence center, the primary
focus of interest of industrial partners is software development
with a focus on classical Software Engineering
problems. In a nutshell, this means that the applied
research problems SCCH faces in such projects is centered
around software processes and quality. Software
quality requires mastering the languages and methods
used in the development process. SCCH has discovered
that software architecture plays an important role in
this process. Therefore, application-oriented projects
put an emphasis on the use of integrated methods and
software architecture. Furthermore, as the major focus
of application is in a production-oriented context,
research is devoted to domain-specific approaches and
languages.
The focus on integration and formally verifiable software
systems extends to data-intensive systems. The
key problems research has to face are the formal integration
of bulk data structures with processes, interaction,
and interfaces on any level of abstraction, and the
systematic reification into application systems.
Prozessen, Interaktion und Schnittstellen auf beliebigem
Abstraktionsniveau sowie die systematische
Vergegenständlichung in Anwendungssystemen. Allgemeiner
betrachtet liefern jedwede Systeme - nicht nur
Softwaresysteme - reichhaltige Datenmengen.
