IN 2009

R&R Ice Cream – which has a factory at Leeming Bar in North Yorkshire - has 

again supported the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity and Hope & Homes for 

Children as its official charities in 2009. Each organisation received a donation 

of £20,000 during 2009. 

Rebecca Allenby, corporate partnerships manager at Hope and Homes for Children, 

said: “Over the last five years R&R Ice Cream has donated over £130,000 

to the charity. This generous contribution has helped us rescue children from 

damaging institutions, support fragile families so that they can stay together and 

change the way whole governments think about childcare. 

“In the current economic climate, being able to count on a level of regular income 

is more important than ever. Our ongoing partnership with R&R Ice Cream 

means that we can plan for the future with confidence and make a firm commitment 

to the children and families who are in the greatest need. 

“We would like to say thank you to R&R Ice Cream on behalf of all the children 

who can now look forward to a future full of hope and happiness as a result of 

your support.” 





In addition, the two charities benefited from R&R’s employees who donated a 

further £7,000 through payroll giving. 

The Rainbow Trust also received a further £20,000 from the Design a Den competition 

organised in conjunction with R&R’s Fab lolly brand. Half of this money 

was used to re-furbish the playroom at the charity’s respite centre in Hexham. 

The donations were part of a total charitable contribution programme by R&R Ice 

Cream during 2009 of nearly £100,000 which also included local organisations 

such as Dalescare and Bedale Football Club as well as the NSPCC and Caravan 

– the National Grocers’ Benevolent Fund. 

Peter Pickthall, training & HR director at R&R Ice Cream, which is the UK’s 

largest ice cream manufacturer, said: “I am delighted that our partnerships with 

the two main charities are proving so successful and helping to make a real 

difference in peoples’ lives. Also, I pay tribute to our employees who continue 

to be very generous in their support.”

Vom 12. bis 15. September 2010 finden die drei internationalen 

Fachmessen InterMopro (Molkereiprodukte), 

InterCool (Tiefkühlkost, Speiseeis, Technik) und Inter- 

Meat (Fleisch und Wurst) in Düsseldorf statt. 

Süd-Eis aus Osnabrück wird dort selbstverständlich wieder mit eiskalten Überraschungen 

präsent sein. 

„In 2010 steht das Frischetrio unter dem verbindenden Motto Nachhaltigkeit und 

CSR“, so Wilhelm Niedergöker, Geschäftsführer der Messe Düsseldorf. „Mit 

dem steigenden Bewusstsein der Verbraucher für soziale und ökologische Folgen 

wirtschaftlichen Handelns wächst bei den Anbietern die Notwendigkeit, ernsthaftes 

Interesse am Wohlergehen von Mitarbeitern, Kunden, Lieferanten und 

der Umwelt als Ganzes zu entwickeln und dieses auch zu kommunizieren“, so 

Niedergöker weiter. 

Unter dem Motto „Tomorrow´s fresh world!“ präsentieren die InterMopro, Inter- 

Cool und InterMeat in Kooperation mit namhaften Partnern aus Industrie und 

Handel eine große Sonderschau in Halle 13 zum Thema Nachhaltigkeit und 

CSR. Hier werden nicht nur nachhaltig erzeugte Produkte angeboten, sondern 

auch produkt- und sortimentsbegleitende Themen wie nachhaltiger Transport, 

nachhaltige Verpackung und energie-effiziente Kühlmöbel vorgestellt. Auf einer 

zentral gelegenen Bühne finden ganztägig Vorträge, Interviews und Experten- 

Talks zu den diversen Aspekten von Nachhaltigkeit statt. 

Insgesamt werden über 950 Aussteller aus 30 Ländern erwartet. Ein optimaler 

Synergieeffekt ergibt sich in 2010 wieder durch die zeitgleich stattfindende 

hogatec, Internationale Fachmesse Hotellerie, Gastronomie, Gemeinschaftsverpflegung. 

Zur letzten InterMopro/Cool/Meat und hogatec kamen über 

70.000 Besucher aus 65 Ländern. Allein das Frischetrio verzeichnete 37.000 

Fachbesucher aus dem Lebensmittelhandel, dem Lebensmittelhandwerk, der 

Nahrungsmittelindustrie und dem Großverbraucherbereich.
