The use of internal mixers with ram loading process<br />
offers completely new possibilities in process control<br />
for these applications, which results in several great<br />
advantages. In addition there are no limitations regarding<br />
quality and form of the raw materials to be processed,<br />
i.e. natural fibres or wood cutting waste etc.<br />
can be added into the machine being non-precut<br />
just as well as plastic components coming from the<br />
packing-, automotive- and domestic appliance industry,<br />
if a reduction of the virgin plastic content in the<br />
compound is required.<br />
Due to the operating with a partly filled mixer, it is<br />
also not required to pre-dry raw materials as the<br />
water can easily evaporate during the melting- and<br />
filler incorporating phase. Moreover, high filler contents<br />
of 80 % are unproblematic with regard to process<br />
engineering, which has a positive effect on the<br />
compound price.<br />
A look at the compound- and product properties<br />
shows lower water absorption and improved mechanical<br />
properties, which is due to a more intensive link<br />
between plastic and filler respectively natural fibre.<br />
The R&D centre belonging to Harburg-Freudenberger<br />
is a world-wide established centre for state-of-the-art<br />
mixing room technologies and allows for mixing trials<br />
from laboratory- to production scale. This R&D center<br />
is used both for performing internal research and development<br />
projects as well as offering our customers<br />

of our machines under real production conditions<br />
giving them the confidence needed before making<br />
an investment decision.<br />
