Entdecken Sie ein Land der Vielfalt
Nordrhein-Westfalen ist ein junges Land, aber reich
an Geschichte und Kultur. Im Aachener Dom liegt Karl
der Große, der erste europäische Kaiser, begraben.
Der Kölner Dom ist nicht nur die größte Kirche sondern
auch Wahrzeichen Deutschlands. Das Historische
Rathaus in Münster wurde berühmt durch die Verhandlungen
zum Westfälischen Frieden, der den Dreißigjährigen
Krieg im Europa des 17. Jahrhunderts beendete.
In diesem Jahr zeigt das Ruhrgebiet als Kulturhauptstadt
Europas, wie lebendig und kreativ die Kunst- und
Kulturszene in Nordrhein-Westfalen ist.
Nordrhein-Westfalen ist ein wirtschaftlich starkes
und modernes Land: Nirgendwo anders in Europa ist
die Hochschullandschaft so dicht wie bei uns. 37 der
100 größten deutschen Unternehmen haben ihren Sitz
an Rhein und Ruhr. Fast 10.000 ausländische Unternehmen
steuern von Nordrhein-Westfalen aus ihre
Deutschland- und Europageschäfte, denn wir liegen
verkehrsgünstig im Herzen des Kontinents. Wäre
Nordrhein-Westfalen ein eigener Staat, stünden wir auf
Rang 17 der stärksten Volkswirtschaften der Welt.

North Rhine-Westphalia is a young federal state, yet
it is rich in history and culture. Karl the Great, the first
European Emperor, lies buried in the Aachen Cathedral.
The Cologne Cathedral is not only the largest church in
the country, but also a German landmark. The historical
town hall in Münster became famous through the negotiations
for the Peace of Westphalia, which ended the
Thirty Years’ War in 17th century Europe. This year, the
Ruhr, being the European Capital of Culture, will show
how lively and creative the art and culture scene is in
North Rhine-Westphalia.
North Rhine-Westphalia is an economically strong
and modern federal state: We have the greatest density
of tertiary education institutions in Europe. 37 of the
100 largest German companies have their head offices
in the Rhein and Ruhr area. Almost 10 000 foreign corporations
control their German and European business
from North Rhine-Westphalia, as we are easily accessible
and in the heart of the continent. If North Rhine-
Westphalia were an own country, we would be ranked
17th strongest economy in the world.

Aus dem Stadttor, dem Sitz der Landesregierung NRW im
Düsseldorfer Hafengebiet, ist der Blick frei in alle Dimensionen
des Landes, das allein schon zu den Top-20-Ländern der Welt
zählt. Dabei ist NRW nur ein Teil der Bundesrepublik Deutschland.
From the seat of the federal government of North Rhine-Westphalia,
at the Stadttor in the Media Harbour in Düsseldorf, the
view extends to all dimensions of the state. NRW counts as one of
the Top-20 countries of the world, although it’s only a part of the
Federal Republic of Germany.
