Here we are again! <strong>The</strong> 14th marketplace<br />
for alternative travel, the 2nd<br />
at Hannover <strong>Fair</strong> beside the ABF<br />
consumer goods fair after last year's<br />
success ... but Reisepavillon wouldn't<br />
be Reisepavillon if it just repeated<br />
itself. This year we've spread our<br />
net wider, the exhibition space is<br />
bigger, the supporting programme<br />
expanded and our profile sharper.<br />
This means 250 exhibitors from 50<br />
countries, destinations from Müritz<br />
to Mexico, from Tiflis to Titicaca -<br />
even journeys into prehistory. <strong>The</strong><br />
future of travel is one theme -<br />
‘school trips’, where adult travel<br />
habits are formed.<br />
Along with the cornucopia of travel<br />
operators there's also a colourful<br />
bazaar and the ‘Kükelhaus’ course:<br />
feasts for the five senses make the<br />
marketplace a sensual adventure<br />
rounded off with all sorts of good<br />
food and culture.<br />
Presentations and shows carry you<br />
off to the worlds of the Cree Indians,<br />
the Mayas and the Tuaregs, to<br />
the magical light of Provence, the<br />
fascinating wilderness of South<br />

Africa, unknown Romania or the<br />
primeval jungle - in the middle of<br />
Germany. To whet your holiday<br />
appetite we start in late January; in<br />
the city library, Kino am Raschplatz,<br />
Marktkirche, Raschplatzpavillon,<br />
Kanapee and other venues you'll find<br />
exhibitions, lectures and films.<br />
What's more, as organisers we've<br />
gone to great lengths to proclaim<br />
before and during Reisepavillon that<br />
environmentally and socially sound<br />
tourism not only makes a lot of<br />
sense but can also be a lot of fun.<br />
From each exhibitor we demand a<br />
sustainability declaration of how<br />
they combine responsible travel<br />
planning and pleasure, while we<br />
offer information and interactive<br />
elements, workshops and panel discussions<br />
to stimulate critical questions<br />
to conventional tourism, particularly<br />
in, on and around water.<br />
This is our contribution to Agenda<br />
21. If we can promote a more sensitive<br />
approach to holidays, tourism<br />
will set an example - that everyone<br />
can be part of making the declarations<br />
of Rio and Johannesburg work.<br />
