Werte Damen und Herren,
liebe Freunde der SASCO,
„Lumpen, Eisen, Kaninchenfelle“
– so erklang der Ruf
des Altwarenhändlers noch
Anfang der fünfziger Jahre in
den Straßen meiner
Geburtsstadt.
„Lumpen, Eisen, Kaninchenfelle“
als Aufforderung in Zeiten
des Rohstoffmangels,
alles nicht mehr benötigte
abzugeben und der Wiederverwertung
zuzuführen. Keine
Zeitung, kein Metallteil,
das nicht von uns Kindern
aufgesammelt und gegen
einen Pfennigbetrag abgeliefert
worden wäre. Auf diese
Weise dauerte es mehr als
zwei Jahre, bis ich mein erstes
Fahrrad erspart hatte.
Heute, 50 Jahre später, stehen
dem Verbraucher fast
alle Konsumgüter in fast unbegrenztem
Umfang zu fast
jeder Zeit zur Verfügung. Von
Rohstoffmangel scheint keine
Rede mehr zu sein.
Der milliardste PC weltweit
wurde verkauft. Die sich ra-
pide verkürzenden Innovationszyklen
bescheren dem
Jubilar eine statistische Lebensdauer
von einem Jahr
und der Welt somit einen
kaum noch zu bewältigenden
Berg von Elektronikmüll.
Es wird Bedarf geweckt und
Bedarf gedeckt und fast alles
läßt sich produzieren.
Manchmal sei die Frage erlaubt,
ob wirklich sinnvoll
oder nicht.

Jahren für Kontinuität, für
sinnvolle Innovation und Erneuerung
und für beständiges
Wachstum. SASCO
nimmt die technologischen
Herausforderungen an und
ist stets bemüht, seinen

dear friends of SASCO,
“Rags, iron, rabbit furs” – this
is what the second hand
dealer used to shout in the
early fifties in the streets of
the city I was born in.
“Rags, iron, rabbit furs” as a
request to hand over everything
unneeded and to reintroduce
it into the recycling
process in times when raw
material was scarce. Not one
newspaper, not one piece of
metal which we children
would not pick and deliver to
get some Pennies in return.
This way it took me more
than two years until I saved
enough money to buy me
my first bicycle.
Today, 50 years later, people
have access to nearly any
consumer good in nearly
unlimited amounts nearly
any time. Shortage of raw
material does not seem to be
an issue any longer.
The one millionth PC worldwide
was sold. The rapidly
shortening innovation cycle
bestows the celebrator a
statistical life time of one
year and the world a nearly
unmanageable mountain of
electronic waste.
Demand is created and demand
is fulfilled and nearly
everything can be manufactured.
Sometimes we should
ask ourselves if this really
makes sense.
For more than 30 years
SASCO has stood for continuity,
for sensible innovations
and renewal as well as
for continuous growth.
SASCO accepts the technological
challenges and always
strives to offer its customers
optimal problem solutions.

comes to sensibly transform
