STANDPUNKTIntended useThe loudspeakers STANDPUNKT are intended for convertingelectric output signals from audio amplifiers into audible sound wavesand they are only approved for connection to the speaker outputs onsuch devices.Please use speakers only indoors; never outdoors. Do not expose tomoisture, for example in bathrooms or similar locations.Any other use than the one described above may cause damage tothe loudspeakers and lead to other risks, such as short-circuits, fire,etc.No part of the product may be modified or rebuilt.The safety instructions must be observed at all times.Safety instructionsThe warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure toobserve these safety instructions. We do not assume liability for anyresulting damage.We do not assume any liability for material and personal damagecaused by improper use or non-compliance with the safetyinstructions. The warranty will be void in such cases.An exclamation mark in a triangle indicates importantinformation in these operating instructions, which must befollowed.Please read all the instructions before using this device, they includeimportant information on its correct operation.For safety reasons, any unauthorised conversionand/or modification to the loudspeakers is notpermitted.Ÿ The manufacturer’s safety instructions for devices to whichthe loudspeakers will be connected must also be observed.Therefore please read carefully all other relevant operatinginstructions also.Ÿ Do not keep any magnetic storage media such as computerdisks, video cassettes or similar near the loudspeakers asthe magnetic field of the loudspeakers may corrupt theinformation stored on these media.Ÿ Do not listen to excessively loud music for long periods oftime. This may lead to hearing damage.Ÿ Do not expose the loudspeaker to high temperatures, dripsor water spray, strong vibrations or heavy mechanicalstress.Ÿ Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. Itmay become a dangerous plaything for children.Ÿ Do not place the loudspeaker in the direct vicinity of screenssuch as television sets or computer monitors. The magneticfields generated by the loudspeakers may distort the imagedisplaying.Ÿ When setting up the loudspeakers, make sure that they areon a stable base and that you find a correspondingly stablesurface to place them on.Assembly of floor plateThe included floor plate must be mounted to the cabinet of theSTANDPUNKT using the 4 included screws as shown in the drawingon last page. Instead of the included one a floor plate made of graniteis available as accessory.It is permitted to use the STANDPUNKT with mountedfloor plate only. Otherwise there is the risk thatthe loudspeaker falls over during operation.AnschlussThe STANDPUNKT is equipped with a Bi-Wiring terminal makingit possible to connect the woofer-midrange systems separated fromthe ribbon tweeter. Thereby an operation with two wires (Bi-Wiring) aswell as additionally with two amplifiers (Bi-Amping) is possible.Operating with only one wire the woofer-midrange and ribbon tweeterterminal will be connected by the included wire bridges (see last page).Both wire bridges must be removed if operating in Bi-Wiring mode, at least in Bi-Amping mode. If the wirebridges were not removed in these operating modes,the connected amplifiers can be damaged.The integrated Xover is still in use in Bi-Wiring / Bi-Amping mode.Therefore a use of an additionally electronic Xover or digital Xover (DSP)is not advantageously. In fact the sound can be downgraded possibly.The screw terminals are marked black (minus input) or red (plus input).The plus input must be connected to the plus output of the amplifier, theminus input must be connected to the minus output of the amplifier (seelast page). If one of the speakers is connected reverse the reproduction ofbass signals can be lowered.InstallationThe STANDPUNKT should be placed in a way, that both speakersand listening place were close to the corner points of an equilateraltriangle, if possible.Ÿ The distance between speakers and any wall should be 50 cm ormore..Ÿ The shape of the listening room and its characteristics have strongeffect on the sound. Damping materials (sofa, curtains, carpets) havea cushioning effect and decrease reverberation. Based onexperience a lowered or excessive, imprecise bass reproductiondepends very often on the position of the speakers in the listeningroom. A modification of the speaker locations may lead to betterresults.MaintenanceWhen connecting the loudspeakers, make sure thatthe connecting cables are not pinched or damaged.Ÿ The loudspeakers may only be connected to suitableloudspeaker terminals on audio devices.Ÿ The impedance of the STANPUNKT 4 ohms. Make surethe impedance indicated in the technical data complies withthe data for the amplifier connected. Otherwise the speakersor the amplifier may be damaged.Ÿ Please check the wiring for any kind of trip hazard etc. toprevent any kind of accidence or damage.Please clean the exterior of the loudspeaker with a soft, dry (moist but notwet if necessary) cloth or brush only.
