„Mastering the city – Management of urban development projects“<br />
The basic conditions of urban development are constantly changing. The future of <strong>Berlin</strong> and other<br />
cities, the outlooks of their society, their political and fiscal manoeuvrability depends on to what extent<br />
their economic profile can be developed. Therefore beside general land use plans and social balancing<br />
concepts, climate change and open space strategies, also strategic areas for strengthening the identity<br />
of the city are necessary and a professional management of an integrated planning process has to<br />
be implemented. The course will inform about the masterplanning of strategic areas in <strong>Berlin</strong> like<br />
Heidestraße, Spreeraum, City-Centre „Planwerk Innenstadt“, City West, Airportcity BBI, Tempelhof or<br />
Tegel. By reflecting examples from other cities we also want to profit of the experiences from HafenCity<br />
Hamburg and international development areas. Which planning instruments and which disciplines,<br />
represented by different participants of the process, are necessary to guarantee the success?<br />
The course will be held in englisch on Wednesday 2pm – 4 pm.<br />
