Erinnerungen an den holocaust im hörspiel
der ddr (1945–1989)
Die Studie analysiert die Funktion des Hörspiels
als kulturelles Gedächtnismedium anhand der
Erinnerungen an den Holocaust im Rundfunk der
DDR. Im Vergleich zur bereits vielfach untersuchten
Darstellung des Holocaust in anderen Medien
werden erstmals die spezifischen ästhetischen
Mittel des Hörspiels und die Rolle des Rundfunks
als politisches Machtinstrument in der deutschdeutschen
Auseinandersetzung fokussiert. Auszüge
aus den analysierten Hörspielen finden sich auf der
beigegebenen Audio-CD.

This study investigates the function of the radio
play as medium of cultural memory, based on the
memories of the holocaust found in the radio plays
of the GDR. In comparison to the presentation of the
holocaust in other media, which has already been
explored various times, here for the first time the
focus is on the specific aesthetic means of the radio
play and the role of radio as political instrument of
power in the FRG–GDR conflict. Extracts from the
analyzed radio plays are included in the enclosed
audio CD.

In sharp contrast to Western developments post-communist
Europe experienced a spectacular reli gious
revival after 1989. Previously marginalized believers
and churches became accepted and active participants
of social life. Several successive surveys of three
international projects studied religious revival and
variations of religiosity, the social image of religious
people and their specific private and public behaviour
in the period between 1991 and 2008. The present
volume is the first ever cross-national and crossdenominational
comparative analysis of these results.

und manipulation unter pinochet
Im Katholizismus gehören ›Marienerscheinungen‹
wie Lourdes zu den spektakulärsten Fällen religiöser
Massenphänomene. Ein prominenter Fall ereignete
sich 1983 in Peñablanca, Chile. Im ersten schweren
Krisenjahr der Pinochet-Diktatur berichtete ein
siebzehn Jahre alter Junge über eine Erscheinung
nahe Valparaíso. Durch engagierte Unterstützer,
Wallfahrten und Presseberichte entwickelte sich
hieraus bald ein Massen- und Medienereignis.
Besondere Brisanz erlangte der Fall durch Vorwürfe,
die Militärregierung sei in manipulativer Absicht in
die Vorgänge verstrickt.

In Catholicism, ‘Marian apparitions’ such as those
at Lourdes belong to the most spectacular cases
of religious mass phenomenon. A prominent case
occurred in 1983 in Peñablanca, Chile. During the
first difficult crisis year of the Pinochet dictatorship,
a seventeen-year-old youth reported an apparition
near Valparaíso. Through dedicated supporters,
pilgrimages and press reports, it soon developed into
both a mass phenomenon and a media phenomenon.
The case became particularly controversial following
accusations that the military government had become
involved in the events with manipulative intensions.
