Digitalisierung im Partnerschaftsmodell
Die smartOPTIMO GmbH & Co. KG unterstützt
Stadtwerke im Netzwerk beim Rollout
intelligenter Messsysteme.
Unternehmen darauf einstellt.
E-WORLD NEWS:
Herr Dr. Wengeler, demnächst startet der Rollout
intelligenter Messsysteme. Wo stehen die
Stadtwerke heute?
Dr. Fritz Wengeler:
Wir sind auf einem guten Weg. Gemeinsam
E-WORLD NEWS:
Was erwartet die Stadtwerke in den kommenden
Monaten?
Dr. Fritz Wengeler:
Man muss den Rollout intelligenter Messsysteme
im Kontext der Energiewende und des Digitalisierungsprozesses
sehen. Auf beiden Feldern
stehen wir noch am Anfang der Entwicklung.
Digitalisierung betrifft ja nicht nur das Messwesen,
sondern letztlich die gesamte Prozesswelt
im Stadtwerk. Diese Umstellung bedeutet eine
enorme Herausforderung für die gesamte Branche,
weil die Komplexität der Prozesse weiter
zunimmt und die Umstellung neben dem Tagesgeschäft
bewältigt werden muss. Uns erwartet
zwei Prinzipien befolgen: Bei smartOPTIMO
arbeiten wir partnerschaftlich zusammen und
lösen alle anstehenden Aufgaben mit Augenmaß,
Herz und Verstand.
E-WORLD NEWS:
E-WORLD NEWS:
So
ihren Energieverbrauch sichtbar
machen und analysieren können. Andererseits
kümmern wir uns im Projekt „Plattform
Wohnungswirtschaft“ um den Aufbau von
Services im Bereich Heizkostenablesung und
Datenverarbeitung. Für Stadtwerke ist dies ein
interessantes neues Betätigungsfeld. Unsere
Partnerunternehmen im Netzwerk können
die Modelle einfach adaptieren und somit vor
Ort rasch in die Praxis umsetzen.
E-WORLD NEWS:
Unter dem Dach von smartOPTIMO sind mittlerweile
mehr als 70 Stadtwerke versammelt.
Wie schaffen Sie es organisatorisch, alle parallel
zu betreuen?
Dr. Fritz Wengeler:
Grundsätzlich stärkt smartOPTIMO ganzheitlich
die Fähigkeit zur Selbsthilfe. Jedes Stadtwerk
im Netzwerk soll ein Maximum an Eigenständigkeit
behalten. Unabhängig davon müssen wir
uns natürlich professionell organisieren, damit
diese Unterstützung strukturiert und effektiv
funktioniert. Deshalb haben wir unser Team
personell kontinuierlich vergrößert, aus der
Projektarbeit Linienfunktionen abgeleitet und
Kompetenzcenter entwickelt.
Digitisation in a partnership model
smartOPTIMO GmbH & Co. KG assists municipal
utility companies in a network with
the rollout of intelligent measuring systems.
Managing Director Dr Fritz Wengeler explains
which challenges digitisation is entailing
for the sector and how his company
is preparing to face them.
E-WORLD NEWS:
Dr Wengeler, the rollout of intelligent measuring
systems will begin soon. What is the current
status of the municipal utility companies?
Dr Fritz Wengeler:
We are making good progress. Together with
our partners in the smartOPTIMO network
of municipal utility companies, we have been
making elaborate and thorough preparations
for some years now. As is known, the first
operative phase, the installation of modern
measuring equipment, has already begun. The
next step now involves the rollout of intelligent
measuring systems in parallel to this. We
are currently dealing with detailed technical
planning and are preparing the first operative
steps. At the same time, however, we are already
looking ahead to how municipal utility
companies can develop new business models
on the Smart Meter Gateway platform.
E-WORLD NEWS:
What do municipal utility companies expect in
the next few months?
Dr Fritz Wengeler:
The rollout of intelligent measuring systems
must be viewed in the context of the energy
revolution and the digitisation process. We
are still at the first stage of development in
both fields. After all, digitisation not only
affects metrology but ultimately the entire
process world in a municipal utility company.
This conversion entails an enormous
challenge for the sector as a whole because
the complexity of processes continues to increase
and the conversion has to be managed
in addition to daily business. A long journey
with several stages lies ahead of us, which will
involve continuously facing new challenges
that cannot be foreseen at this point. No one
should think that the issue of smart metering
can be dealt with all at once; it is part of
a larger process. We are setting ourselves this
challenging task by following two principles:
At smartOPTIMO, we collaborate as partners
and solve all tasks put to us with sound judgement,
heart and reason.
E-WORLD NEWS:
Can you outline the first steps of this journey?
Dr Fritz Wengeler:
This will primarily involve three aspects at
first: The installation of intelligent measuring
systems, preparing IT systems and setting up
processes based on market communication
according to the interim model. Further steps
Dr. Fritz Wengeler, Geschäftsführer der smartOPTIMO GmbH & Co. KG: „Stadtwerke ganzheitlich zur Selbsthilfe
im Digitalisierungsprozess ertüchtigen.“
are expected to be star-shaped market communication
and the performance of switching
operations by control box.
E-WORLD NEWS:
You said that you are already involved in the development
of new business models for municipal
utility companies. What is the focus here?
Dr Fritz Wengeler:
Intelligent measuring systems must ultimately
be viewed as a platform for new business models
and smart services with added value. The
question of end customers‘ requests and needs
is of utmost importance here. For example, with
smartVISIO we already have a product which
commercial and private customers can use to
visualise and analyse their energy consumption.
On the other hand, our „housing industry
platform“ project involves the establishment of
services in the field of reading heating costs and
data processing. This is an interesting new field
of activity for municipal utility companies. Our
partner companies in the network can simply
adapt the models and therefore quickly put
them into practice on site.
E-WORLD NEWS:
More than 70 municipal utility companies are
now consolidated under smartOPTIMO. In
terms of organisation, how do you manage to
serve all these companies in parallel?
Dr Fritz Wengeler:
The essence of smartOPTIMO is to fully enhance
the ability of companies to help themselves.
Every municipal utility company in the
network should retain maximum independence.
Regardless of this, we have to be organised
professionally as a matter of course, so that
this assistance is provided in a structured and
effective manner. This is why we have continuously
added new members of staff to our team,
derived line functions from project work and
developed a centre of expertise. We now have a
technical service centre, a product management
team and interface managers, for example, to
prepare our customers for the processes and for
use of the systems. This is how we manage to
assist our partners with standardised processes
as well as with their individual requests. //
