„Ich sage Ihnen vor Gott, als ein ehrlicher Mann, Ihr
Sohn ist der grösste Componist, den ich von Person
und dem Namen nach kenne“, habe ihm Haydn nach
einer musikalischen Soirée im Februar 1785 gesagt.
Das berichtet Leopold Mozart. Auf dem Programm des
Hauskonzerts steht auch das B-Dur-Konzert, das Wolfgang
Amadeus dem Komponistenkollegen „als Frucht
einer langen und mühsamen Arbeit“ widmet. Mit ihrem
1994 erschienenen zweiten Streichquartett setzt
die britische Komponistin mit jamaikanischen Wurzeln
Eleanor Alberga einen zeitgenössischen Farbtupfer,
bevor die Matinee mit dem ungezwungen eingängigen
As-Dur-Quartett endet, das Dvorák in New York beginnt
und 1895 in Böhmen abschließt. „Der Herrgott hat uns
diesen Augenblick vergönnt und darum fühlen wir uns
alle so unaussprechlich glücklich“, bekennt er nach der
Rückkehr aus Amerika. Diese Daseinsfreude kann man
in seinem letzten Kammermusikwerk deutlich hören.
Es ist eben schön, wieder zu Hause zu sein.

“Ti dico davanti a Dio, da uomo onesto, che tuo figlio è
il più grande compositore che conosco di persona e di
nome”, gli avrebbe detto Haydn dopo una serata musicale
nel febbraio 1785. Questo è quanto tramanda Leopold
Mozart. Il programma del concerto della casa comprende
anche il Concerto in si bemolle maggiore, che Wolfgang
Amadeus dedica al suo collega compositore “come
frutto di un lungo e arduo lavoro”. Con il suo secondo
quartetto d’archi, pubblicato nel 1994, la compositrice
britannica con radici giamaicane Eleanor Alberga aggiunge
un tocco di colore contemporaneo prima che la
matinée si concluda con il quartetto in la bemolle maggiore,
che Dvorák iniziò a New York e concluse in Boemia
nel 1895. “Il Signore Dio ci ha concesso questo momento
ed è per questo che ci sentiamo tutti così indicibilmente
felici”, confessa dopo il ritorno dall’America. Questa gioia
per il ritorno si sente chiaramente nel suo ultimo lavoro
di musica da camera. È bello essere di nuovo a casa.

“I tell you before God, as an honest man, your son is the
greatest composer I know in person and in name,” Haydn
had told him after a musical soirée in February 1785. This
is what Leopold Mozart reported. The programme of the
house concert also includes the B-flat Major Concerto,
which Wolfgang Amadeus dedicates to his fellow composer
“as the fruit of a long and arduous labour”. With
her second string quartet, published in 1994, the British
composer with Jamaican roots Eleanor Alberga adds a
contemporary splash of colour before the matinee ends
with the unceremoniously catchy A-flat major quartet,
which Dvorák began in New York and finished in Bohemia
in 1895. “The Lord God has granted us this moment and
that is why we all feel so unspeakably happy,” he confesses
after returning from America. This joy of being can be
clearly heard in his last chamber music work. It is good to
be home again.
