The design of the Garten
der Erinnerung reflects
the former use of this
section of the inner
harbour of Duisburg.
Building ruins on the
site serve as observation
towers or stages for
events. The transformation
of derelict buildings
into the elements of a
park is symbolized by
the planting of mountain pines on towers and gleditschia in the
construction framework of the Ludwigforum. In the evening, the
garden sculpture turns into illumination architecture, presenting
the important features of the park in a dramatic light.
Le Garten der Erinnerung est implanté sur l‘ancien bassin du „Innenhafen“
du port de Duisbourg. Les installations sont réaménagés
en tours de point de vue ou bien en scène lors d‘événements. La
transition des restes des installations en partie intégrante d‘un
parc s‘est effectué au travers de la plantation de pins sur les tours
et les Gleditsia bordant le Ludwigforum. A la nuit tombée, on
passe d‘une „sculpture de paysage“ à une architecture de lumière.
Les éléments architecturaux principaux du parc sont illuminés et
parfaitement mis en scène.
