My friend Olivia and me in Nuremberg
which is Electronic Engineering.
Luckily, Professor Jillek especially
opened a course in English
for me and my friend from
Hong Kong, so that I could have
a course in my major. Also, he
showed us around in the laboratory
and taught us in details.
Now I really need to say thank
you to Professor Jillek and
the laboratory assistant.
Other than this course, I had
also attended a German language
course A1, which it was
very useful for me. As the
course adding system in Germany
is really different from that
in Hong Kong, I missed the first
lesson of the German course.
In the course, all students were
exchange students. I still can
remember that I really could not
understand anything in the lesson.
It is because the German
efi-Jahresbericht 2010/11 36
teacher only spoke in German
during the class. This was really
hard for me but I knew that it is
the most efficient method to
learn a foreign language. During
the class, the German teacher
organized many different activities
for us so that we could learn
German from games and activities.
I had so much fun in the
lesson.
The lectures in Nuremberg are
very different from those in
Hong Kong. In fact, most lessons
in my home country consist
of listening to the professor
talk about the course content.
Even if we had some questions,
we wouldn't ask during the lesson
but only after the class. In
Germany, there is much interaction
between the students and
the professor during the lecture.
I like this kind of lesson so
much. It let me feel much more
relaxed.
Out of the class, I always went
around to see different things in
Germany, especially the German
food and German beer. I
can still remember that on my
first day in Nuremberg, Markus
showed me the way to supermarket
and we ate the sausage
bread roll next to the supermarket.
It is really tasty and I love it
so much. I knew that the finger
sized sausages in Nuremberg is
famous throughout the whole
Germany. Therefore, I bought a
lot of finger sized sausages and
brought back to Hong Kong in
order to share them with my
family and friends.
Other than the sausages, already
before I went to Germany
I knew that the German beer is
famous. After having tasted it I
can’t forget how good it is. I had
tried a number of kinds of beer,
but the one that I remember
most is the smoke beer in Bamberg.
I knew that it is one of the
special beers in Germany. I saw
that in the TV programme in
Hong Kong before. Therefore,
my friend Olivia and me went to
Bamberg and tried it. It is really
different from other beers in
Germany, it has a special taste.
Besides sausages and beer, the
leg's of pork is my other favorite
German food. I tried this in a
very tradition German restaurant
in the city center. I can still remember
the taste of it. I had
tried to find this in Hong Kong.
But never was it as good as in
Germany.
During this semester in Nuremberg
I liked to have dinner in the
beer garden with a nice beer.
