Managerwechsel am SAE Institute Zürich
Anfang 2008 hat sich auch in Zürich personell etwas verändert: Seit dem
7.1.2008 ist Paul Meier neuer Schulleiter, der damit Philippe Küchler ablöst,
auf den künftig höhere Aufgaben warten.
Icon D-Control im Studio 1
Wir freuen uns, dass wir das Züricher Studio 1 mit einer 32-Kanal D-Control
neu ausrüsten konnten. Der gut koordinierte Umbau erfolgte über die Weihnachtsferien.
Die zuvor installierte ProControl wurde in ihre wohlverdiente
Rente geschickt (Friede sei ihrer Fader).
Neben der aufgeräumten und hochwertigen Optik überzeugt vor allem die
Ergonomie mit schwenkbaren Monitor sowie die Funktionalität an unserem
neuen “Spielzeug”. Die Icon wurde von unseren Studenten gut aufgenommen.
Laufende Kurse ohne entsprechenden Theorie Unterricht, wurden
durch Workshops auf der neuen Konsole geschult.
Genf
Zusätzliche Workshops und außerschulische Aktivitäten werden in Genf
großgeschrieben. Die Studenten des Digital Film & Animation Kurses hatten
die Gelegenheit, zusammen mit Kameraleuten des regionalen Privatsenders
Lémanbleu aus Genf, Aufnahmen für die neue Sendung „Sounds
Good” zu machen. Dabei handelte es sich um einen Trailer der im Abspann
der Sendung, inklusive SAE Logo, mehrfach ausgestrahlt wurde. Beim anschließenden
Besuch in den Postproduction-Studios des Senders konnten
die Studenten gleich selber Hand anlegen.
Die Erstausgabe des Genfer Boxens Festivals vom 27. bis 29. Juni 2008 (elektronische
Musik - festival électronique) wird bereits ungeduldig erwartet.
Das Event wird von O’Xensa organisiert, einem Label, das 2005 von Cathy
(Myssi Sensi) und Audrey (DJ Kyssia) - seit vielen Jahren aktiv in der Genfer
Musikszene – gegründet wurde. Einen Namen haben sich die beiden als
She-DJ’s und Förderinnen weiblicher Nachwuchskünstler sowie mit dem
Management internationaler DJ’s gemacht. Die Audio Engineer Studenten
sind für die technische Umsetzung zuständig und können so aktiv bei einer
Live-Veranstaltung Erfahrungen sammeln.
Die Web Design & Development Studenten haben sich vom Fußball-Europameisterschaftsfieber
anstecken lassen und planen eine Website mit Spielberichten,
Tabellen, filmischen Momentaufnahmen, Fotos sowie erwähnenswerten
lokalen Aktivitäten im Vorfeld dieses Riesenevents. Genf bietet sich
als Austragungsort geradezu an, um emotionsgeladene Stimmungsbilder
einzufangen, natürlich unter Mithilfe der Film-Studenten.

Change of management at the SAE Institute in Zurich
The beginning of 2008 saw personnel changes in Zurich. Paul Meier has
been the new Principal since the 7th of January 2008. That releases Philippe
Küchler to tackle higher challenges in the future.
Icon D-Control in Studio 1
We are happy to announce that we have been able to upgrade the Studio 1
in Zurich with a new 32 channel D-Control. The installation took place over
the Christmas holidays. The previously installed ProControl was sent off to
a well-earned retirement (may its faders rest in peace). Besides its orderly
and valuable appearance, we are very happy with the ergonomic aspects of
the unit with its swivel-mounted monitor as well as the functionality of our
“new toy”. The Icon has been well accepted by our students. Ongoing courses
without appropriate theoretical instruction were brought up to speed on
the new unit through workshops.
In Geneva, additional workshops and extracurricular activities are important
to us. Together with camera people from Geneva’s private regional station
Lémanbleu, our Digital Film & Animation students had the opportunity
do recording for the new TV show Sounds Good. The work had to do with
a trailer, which is broadcast several times at the end of the program and
includes the SAE logo. During the subsequent visit to the station’s postproduction
studios, the students were able to gain some hands-on experience.
The first edition of the Geneva Box Festival, from the 27th to the 29th of
June 2008 (Electronic Music – Festival Électronique), is being eagerly anticipated.
The event is being organized by O’Xensa – a label founded in 2005
by Cathy (Myssi Sensi) and Audrey (DJ Kyssia), which has been active in the
Geneva music scene for many years. They both made a name for themselves
as She-DJs, supporters of new female talent as well as managers of international
DJ’s. The Audio-Engineering students are responsible for the technical
implementation. Their active involvement gives them the opportunity to
gain hands-on experience at a live event.
The Web Design & Development students have caught the European World-
Cup Soccer fever and are planning a website with reports on the games, rankings,
film clips of interesting moments, photos and noteworthy local activities
leading up to the mammoth event. Geneva is a perfect venue to capture
emotion-packed pictures – with the help of our Film students, of course.
