A message from the Chair of Governors, Mr E Samuels
On behalf of the Governing Body, I wanted to congratulate the students and staff at school
on such a positive first half term. The academic, debating and sporting awards reflect all of
the hard work which is currently being shown at The John Fisher School. I was delighted to
find out the Sutton Review team’s reflections on the standard of governance at the school
when they visited at the beginning of October. The team commented in their report that
“Governors have a strong understanding of their role within the school and the moral purpose
of the school as and within the Catholic community.”
We should feel very proud that we have such a successful Catholic school in our local catholic
community and truly appreciate how our students benefit from the thoughtfulness that
our Catholic teaching and distinctiveness encourages. Our success does not make us complacent
however and we want to continue to work on being the best that we can be. I would
stress to parents/carers the importance of being part of our John Fisher School Association
and would encourage you to attend the events which will hopefully take place this year. Let’s
hope we can find some volunteers to take up the leadership roles in this successful Parent
Teacher Association as we move the school further forward together.
