Lower Re snick
Lower Resnick is the area in the Resnick dorms where very few One Year Programmers live and
even fewer venture to visit. To go past the supermarket steps is just too much of a mission, and
besides, “why should we go all the way down there? It’s much easier for you to come up to us
here.”
For those fortunates who did actually make the journey this past year it was as though they had
just climbed Mount Sinai. Huffing and puffing they proudly declared, “Whew—made it!”
Congratulations. You just walked one quarter of the way to Idelson.
But except for—or perhaps because of—the lack of visitors venturing down under, “Lower
Resnick” has truly been a multi-cultural experience for overseas students. Not only has it been
possible for us to hike up that two minute walk whenever we desired, but it was also nice to know
that there was always a room awaiting us to which we could return whenever we wanted to
escape the North American Ghetto.
It was a place that we called home for the year, and in this place we were given the great
opportunity to broaden our horizons beyond the U.S. and Canada. Many of us now have close
friends from all over Europe, Central and South America that we can call upon when travelling to
these foreign countries—all for the small price of an extra two-minute walk.
