The Derby branch had their Christmas lunch at a very beautiful
hotel in the Peak District. It was organised by Margaret Taylor,
our Chairman. Margaret has just been thanked by her church for
leading the flower team for 40 years. Well done, Margaret.
Did you get the chance to see the very big moon at the end of
November? Keith and I were in Cyprus and saw it there. St.
Andrew is their patron saint. At 7 a.m. the church behind our
hotel sent out a peel of bells. To be honest it sounded like
someone swinging a hammer around a galvanised bin!! I leapt
out of bed thinking it was a fire alarm and went out onto the
balcony. The sky was still dark, and the huge moon was shining
onto the church tower. The church was lit-up inside so all the
stain glass windows looked like jewels and with the church
surrounded with palm trees, it looked like Bethlehem.
Two of our grandchildren went to Nepal with the Scouts from
Melton Mowbray. The kids brought me a pair of ear-rings of
Prayer wheels, Granddad a pair of knitted slippers from Yaks
wool and a length of prayer flags. It’s very windy today and the
flags look very well hanging from our trees.
May I ask you all to hold our Association together in this year
when some of our National Officers will be standing down.
