The scouts helped with the feeding of the alpacas at the
AlpacaBerry Farm.
The troop learned how you can plant
a garden in just about anything - here
they are using plastic bottles.
They learned how to make an easy
birdhouse as one of their lessons.
Pack 87 visits the
AlpacaBerry Farm
Four scout members of Cub Scout Troop Pack 87 visited
the AlpacaBerry Farm in March to complete achievements towards
rank and to work on the World Conservation Award.
They also studied about Leave No Trace.
Scout leaders Beth Abshear and Tonya Dawson led the
scouts through several different activities, including a flag pole
ceremony, a greenhouse tour, making birdhouses and feeding
the critters on the farm.
Dave Severson, co-owner of the farm, took the kids out
to the barn with him for the morning feeding. They enjoyed
learning about alpacas, pygmy goats and silkie chickens.
The scouts present were Adam Abshear, Logan Dawson,
Matthew Jones and Dylan Sturgill. Several of their parents
and siblings accompanied the scouts to the farm, among them
Hunter Dawson of Troop 54.
A flag
ceremony
was held
during a trip
to the C2H2
Farm
The last activity involved making a cane pole
and using it to fish. A great way to end the day.
