432nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron
CREECH AIR FORCE BASE,
Nev. – Feb. 28 marked a memorable
day in U.S. Air Force unmanned
aerial vehicle history. The 432nd
Aircraft Maintenance Squadron
spearheaded the first ever all-military
launch of the MQ-9 Reaper.
Creech AFB acquired MQ-9s
in March 2007. The aircraft and
ground control stations have been
maintained by General Atomics
Aeronautical Systems, Inc. contractors
ever since.
The Reaper Aircraft Maintenance
Unit, one of four in the 432
AMXS, was stood up November
2008 by Senior Master Sgt. Robert
Stout and 26 original cadre personnel.
All members of this AMU are
military.
In January 2008, the AMU took
possession of its first aircraft, tail
#4016, and training began almost
immediately. A majority of the
personnel selected had years of
experience on the Predator and
overseas UAV operations, which
smoothed the transition to the new
system.
With assistance from GA/ASI
and the Air Force Engineering
Technical Services, the original
cadre of military maintainers
obtained initial qualifications
to launch and maintain the Air
Force’s latest weapons system.
The unit’s first members included
U.S. Air Force, Royal Air
Force and Nevada Air National
Guard maintainers, representing
a combined, total force.
The new unit will soon expand to
over 150 personnel. It will continue
to train personnel and prepare for
future deployments in support of
the Global War on Terror.
CREECH AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. – The 556th Test
and Evaluation Squadron, the Air Force’s first operational
test squadron for unmanned aerial systems, held an
activation ceremony here March 5.
The ceremony included a flag furling and unfurling,
signifying the deactivation of the 53rd Test and Evaluation
Group, Detachment 4 and the activation of the
556th TES. The 53rd TEG detachment transitioned into a
squadron when Air Combat Command officials decided
the detachment’s workload and aircraft equaled that of
other 53rd Wing flying squadrons.
The 556th TES will continue to provide support to
UAS operations worldwide through force development
evaluations; development of training, tactics and procedures;
On February 28, 2008 the 432d Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Creech Air Force Base, Nev.
spearheaded the first ever blue-suit launch of the MQ-9 Reaper. Creech acquired MQ-9s in March
programs for MQ-1 Predator and the larger MQ-9 Reaper
UAS sensors, hardware, software and weapons upgrades
to maximize combat capabilities before releasing them
for operational use.
“Creech used to be a sleepy hollow,” said Col. Brian
O’Rear, 53rd Test and Evaluation Group deputy commander,
based at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. “Now
airplanes are flying all the time. The [UAS community]
is growing—the mission is incredibly important and
incredibly busy.”
The UAS’s currently in use today were new and
emerging technologies when the 53rd TEG detachment
activated in January 2001. The detachment’s initial mission
was to support MQ-1 initial, developmental, and
follow-on operational test and evaluations. That mission
has increased with the required force development evaluations
on the MQ-1 and the introduction of the MQ-9.
The unit received three new MQ-1s this February,
and anticipates gaining another one by end of year. The
squadron is also scheduled to receive its first of four
MQ-9 aircraft in 2010. The detachment’s Airmen, employees
and equipment will remain in place at the base,
but transition into the new squadron to serve the now
larger mission.
“It will definitely be a significant challenge, but our job
is to ensure the right improvements get to the warfighter
as complete and as fast as possible,” said Lt. Col. Ty Moyers,
556th TES commander. “This is a team effort and
we’ll continue to work closely with warfighters at Creech
and Nellis to increase our efficiencies,” he said.
The 556th designation was chosen by ACC for its
lineage and history of surveillance. The 556th Reconnaissance
Squadron, a C-130 Hercules squadron that
launched reconnaissance drones over North Vietnam,
was active from 1968 to 1972.
Followership: Hone your game
Commentary by
SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFPN)
— Much of our military careers are
focused on leadership and for good
reason. But let’s take a moment to
discuss good followership because
without followers there would be
no leaders.
Have you ever sat back and
watched the NCO, senior NCO or
officer who was just run of the mill;
the person who sits back and lets life
come to them? How about the person
who never offers up information
until called upon, and even then it’s
offered late and in poor format or
lacking key data points? You may
be that person.
Even if you’re a standout, perhaps
you still have some learning to do.
Here are a few follower tidbits to
guide your professional careers:
Commentary by Robert Sperling
Air Force District of Washington
Public Affairs
BOLLING AIR FORCE BASE,
D.C. (AFPN) — On my desk is a
simple reminder of what it is that we,
as members of this United States Air
Force, are about. It is a small pamphlet
titled, “United States Air Force
Core Values, 1 January 1997.”
This is my technical order for
providing superior service each and
every day — integrity first, service
before self and excellence in all we
do.
On the first page it reads:
“The core values exist for all members
of the Air Force family -- officer,
enlisted and civilian; active, Reserve,
Guard and retired; senior, junior and
middle management; civil servants,
pervisor ... but mostly watch. Keep
an eye out for how your supervisor
and the supervisor’s supervisor
conduct themselves. Then commit
those actions to your memory and
yes, change your habits accordingly.
That is, if you have successful
supervisors. For example, if your
supervisor is a stickler for keeping
things neat and orderly, then don’t
test them. You will lose, trust me.
Simply pick up your areas and your
rubbish. If your supervisor requires
better explanations on staff summary
sheets, then include that justification.
It will save you time and
yes, your supervisor will remember.
Also try to emulate your supervisors
writing style. Get examples and
learn from those examples.
—Always beat the boss to the
punch. Everyone knows when annual
reports are due or when someone
is getting ready for a permanent
change of station move and a decoration
may be in order. For officer
and enlisted performance reports,
uniformed personnel and contractors.
They are for all of us to read, to
understand, to live by, and to cherish.
The core values are much more than
minimum standards. They remind us
what it takes to get the mission done.
They inspire us to do our very best
at all times. They are the common
bond among all comrades in arms,
and they are the glue that unifies the
force and ties us to the great warriors
and public servants past.”
This 25-page booklet was issued
to me when I arrived late one evening
to a strange and frightening
place called Lackland Air Force
Base, Texas. That evening, which all
of us who have worn stripes on our
sleeves will remember for the rest of
our lives, poured the foundation of
our careers with three small words:
Integrity, service, excellence. Eleven-
The deadline for submissions to the Bullseye is no
get good data to your supervisor at
least 30 days prior. Don’t wait for
the record on individual personnel
to show up, and yes, it’s OK to try
and write the report yourself. While
a supervisor cannot direct you to
write your report, it not only provides
the supervisor with input on
what you’ve accomplished, but it can
also be an effective feedback tool
for your writing style. Then provide
the laundry list of items you’ve accomplished
because a supervisor
will look at things differently and
reorder or add/subtract items. And
make sure the data is good. Too
many times when something comes
in late, the quality is very poor.
—Never miss an opportunity to
shine. By this I mean get items like
professional military and civilian
education complete without being
told. There’s never any time better
than the present to get things
done. The day you are selected for
an appropriate rank or meet the
eligibility criteria for professional
years later, as an Air Force leader, I
rely on this set of values more than
ever.
Integrity is that voice inside your
head that asks the question, “Is this
the right thing to do in this situation?”
This value is the litmus test
for the daily decisions that we make
and ensures that the actions we take
as Airmen will ultimately further the
moral standards of our force.
Service is ensuring that the actions
we take speak the words we
want them to. When wearing the
“uniform,” we are the United States
Air Force and not Bob or Jane. Our
personal desires are left on the night
stand for us to pick up when we return
home.
Excellence. This to me is self-explanatory,
and I view it very simply
as doing every task that I undertake
later than Wednesday, 4:30 p.m., one week prior to desired
publication date. Briefs are due no later than Wednesday, 3 p.m.
one week prior to desired publication date. Articles must also
be submitted no later than Wednesday, 4:30 p.m., one week
prior to desired publication date unless the editor provides an
exception to a late-breaking story or article, and articles must
include a byline (author of the story).
For all submissions, a name and phone number of a person to
contact must be included in the event questions arise.
All material is edited for accuracy, brevity, clarity and
conformity to the Associated Style Guide, to include military ranks
and proper writing etiquette.
Corrections: The Bullseye staff members strive for accuracy each
week. If you notice an error in fact, contact the Bullseye staff at (702)
876-4039/4837, or e-mail bullseye@aerotechnews.com, and we will
consider publishing a correction when appropriate.
military education, sign up. Your
military career will never get easier
nor are you likely to have more free
time than you do today. When a
supervisor asks you about your
status, you can clearly indicate that
you have initiative and drive. And if
you’re interested in a particular job
or opportunity, regardless of your
statistical chance to be selected, go
ahead and get your name in front of
the boss. Good, positive visibility is
like gold.
—Finally, tactfully make the boss
provide you quality feedback. While
the supervisor owes feedback, too
many times subordinates only receive
lip service instead of dedicated
feedback sessions. You should know
exactly where you stand in a unit
and also understand what it takes
to jump to a higher performance
plateau.
Try these out, refine your ability
to adapt to different leadership
styles and success will be yours.
to the best of my ability. It states
that every Airman will strive to do
their best and continually strive for
personal and professional development
in all aspects of their life:
Emotional, spiritual, professional
and personal.
How do the Air Force’s core
values affect your daily life? Have
you served under the umbrella of
integrity, service and excellence?
Revisit your “Little Blue Book,” whatever
that should be, and refresh your
mind and soul.
Everyday our peers, subordinates,
leaders and customers look to us for
service, guidance and leadership. Are
we good stewards of the Air Force
core values as we provide them with
superior service? I submit that the
Air Force core values are the price of
admission into the Air Force.
Atmosphere 4: Charisma
By Chief Master Sgt. Robert Brooks
99th Air Base Wing Command Chief
NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. — On March 17,
we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. I have a very positive association
with this event because the most charismatic
person I’ve ever known is Irish and whom I’ve shared
more than a couple St. Paddy’s with. For more on that,
see the March Atmosphere video.
John C. Maxwell makes Charisma No. 2 of his “21
Indispensable Qualities of a Leader.” I’m sure one can
be successful without this trait, but I wonder what life
would be like if everyone practiced a more charismatic
disposition.
Consider for a moment the people in your life you
most enjoy being around. In my life, they are not negative
or cynical; rather, they are upbeat and supportive. In
fact, I would go so far as to suggest nobody truly enjoys
or is emotionally elevated by cynical company.
There are so many reasons to be stressed, tired or
otherwise disgruntled in this day and age that I, for
one, don’t need any help with that. An upbeat spirit or
positive word is an injection of energy to me. I only hope
that I am able to be that injection to others.
Having not been born into charisma, it’s something
I work on with sincerity. Sincerity is key as we all know
those who can “work the room” but have little interest
in the well being of others. I think sincerity is most easily
viewed through willingness to reveal one’s true self.
The admission of vulnerability is not only endearing to
others, but reveals a true willingness of companionship
and trust. Consider sharing yourself with others in a
genuine way, making every effort to do so in a positive
way. John C. Maxwell says it this way: “Think about how
you can add value to people in your life this year (this
month for our purpose). They can be family members,
co-workers, colleagues or friends. Provide resources to
help them grow personally and professionally, and share
your personal journey with them.”
Certainly charisma, in practice, can further a darker
cause, as in the case of Adolph Hitler, Jim Jones and
David Koresh. However, in those instances the charisma
was energized to focus on the giver rather than
the receiver. It was said by a young Brit that a negative
charismatic will leave you feeling he is the cleverest man
around, whereas a positive charismatic will leave you
feeling that you are the cleverest person. Both can be
infinitely successful in their venture.
In speaking engagements I often allude to the Pygmalion
effect. Simply put, this is the idea that if you treat
others as average or substandard, you will receive exactly
that level of performance from them. Conversely, if you
can convince people they are superior by accentuating
the positive, they will become great. In my estimation,
this is the single most significant reason charisma is associated
with leadership. Positive proliferation nets peak
performance.
As I began this introspection, I asked you to consider
those you most enjoy being around. How many people
do you suppose thought of you? Were any of them your
co-workers or subordinates? Do you genuinely invest
positively in the life of others? I know I can do better,
maybe you can too.
By all counts St. Patrick’s Day is a jovial time so accept
the challenge with me to make it more than just a day,
but make it a month ... perhaps even more. Green beers
aside, take a page from Ireland’s patron saint. Through
positive charismatic disposition he changed a nation, and
his spirit of good will is celebrated centuries later.
Now is the time to learn about candidates
Commentary by Tech. Sgt. Steven Armitage
366th Medical Support Squadron
MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho
— Democrat or Republican? Liberal or conservative?
I never really paid attention. All I knew was that
Alex P. Keaton, the character played by Michael J.
Fox on “Family Ties” was a Republican. Other than
that, I never knew anything about either political
party.
As a young Airman, I would listen to the older,
more seasoned noncommissioned officers and officers
in my flight debate the issues and discuss
their candidates’ stance. I never understood what
all the fuss was about. Nothing was ever going to
change anyway, right? Well, I couldn’t have been
more wrong!
As I progressed through my career and advanced
up the chain of command, I’ve seen friends remain
on active duty after their enlistment was up, the
drastic down-sizing of the military and the effect
it’s had on the operational capability of the Air
Force. I’ve seen the consequences of Base Realignment
and Closure decisions firsthand and my community
band together to ensure the base where I
was stationed remained open. I’ve seen slight pay
increases and large pay increases, all of these under
different presidents.
A year after I graduated from high school, I voted
in the first election I was eligible for. It was my duty
and my right to vote; something the “Greatest Generation”
and many generations before me fought and
died for. I was proud to say I voted; however, I knew
nothing about the candidates or what they stood for.
I can’t even remember who I voted for.
In elections that followed, I took the opinions
of my friends and family and went with the most
popular vote. I even voted for one president twice
because he was a Texan like me. I was ill prepared for
every election I voted in. Looking back, I believe the
Greatest Generation would be pleased that I voted,
but at the same time, disappointed that I cared so
little for the political process they in-part sacrificed
their lives for.
For me, the election in November 2008 is going
to be different. I’m older and a little less naive about
the political process. I vowed to learn as much about
all the candidates I could. I’ve watched every debate,
primary and caucus broadcasts on TV. I attended
caucus training, which prepared me for the actual
caucus I participated in. I now know what a superdelegate
is and how important it is for a candidate
to win as many as he or she can. I even volunteer
my time to assist the local office of the candidate
I support.
As I walk around my work center and interact
with the different levels of hierarchy, I see a different
atmosphere. Older, seasoned NCOs and officers
stilldebatetheissuesanddiscussthecandidates,
but now I see young Airmen and officers getting
more involved. The image of Bill Clinton playing the
saxophone on MTV and how that inspired an entire
generation to “Rock the Vote” comes to mind.
I decided the time is now to change the way I
think about politics. The information is at my fingertips.
With the internet, satellite TV, 50 gazillion
cable channels and even cell phones that receive
the news, there’s no longer an excuse for anybody
to not be informed.
Each group or squadron has its own voting assistance
officer. I encourage those of you who don’t
understand the political process to find that person
and talk to them. Find out how to register to vote.
Find out how an absentee ballot works. You’ll be
surprised to see how simple the process really is.
Start doing your own research and don’t rely on
the opinions of others. The candidate your friends
support may not be the right candidate for you. You
could be jeopardizing yourself and your career in
the long run.
There are two good sources of information. For
general voting information you can go to http://
www.fvap.gov/pubs/vin.html and for absentee ballot
information go to http://www.fvap.gov/index.
html.
Now is the time to change the way you think
about politics. Don’t wait until the decisions of a
president you knew nothing about change your life.
What does your job consist of?
My job consists of personnel related actions such
as system updates among others and assisting
customers with personnel-related issues. To
sum it up, I serve as a liaison between the unit
member and the Military Personnel Flight or Air
Force Personnel Center.
Why did you join Air Force?
I wanted to be a part of something that has
a purpose, whose purpose has actually been
executed and proven successful time and time
again for the sake of everyone who believes in
absolute freedom.
What are your Air Force goals?
My short term goal would be to make the rank
of Tech. Sgt. My long term goal is to make it as
far as the Air Force would take me, both in my
educational and professional military endeavors
and make the best out of it.
Who is your role model?
Retired Senior Master Sgt. Michael Pellichet and
Master Sgt. Alisa Brzek — they are such great
mentors and leaders who believed in me, taught
me the value of taking care of your people and
took me by the hand and guided me on my early
years as an Airman and even now as an NCO.
What is one thing you wish you were told
when you joined the service?
I wish my recruiter could have told me how rewarding
it can be and I would have enlisted way
earlier than I did.
What is your dream job and why?
I want a job in either foreign area studies or international
politico-military affairs. Because, even
though I know that I am already part of a great
organization, I just don’t want to be a mere part
of it, I want to become an influential force behind
it that will help bridge the unbridgeable gap with
other nations who may be in dire need of our
assistance.
If you won a million dollars, what is the first
thing you would buy?
I know I wouldn’t be able to help them all but I
would definitely set up an educational/scholarship
trust for the less-fortunate and deserving children
back in the Philippines, and after that spend the
rest of whatever may be left on my family and
specially on my husband, whom I love to spoil.
What motivates you at work?
My customers. I feel a sense of purpose because
of them.
Sergeant L’Italien’s supervisor says:
“Staff Sgt. L’Italien understands the value of great
customer service and is an integral part of our team
servicing over 600 unit members. This young NCO
is a real superstar, driving personnel actions for
the second largest squadron (631 folks) on Nellis.
She does a fantastic job every day and I’m often
pushing her out the door at the 12hour
mark. She goes way above what’s
asked of her and really sets a fine example of service
before self.”
By Lila Edwards
Managing Editor, Bullseye
NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev.—Eight more
chief master sergeants from Nellis and Creech Air
Force Bases were added to the Chiefs’ Group during
the group’s recognition ceremony on Feb. 20.
Chief Master Sgt. Gene Wasko, 53rd Test and
Evaluation Group superintendent and the president
of the Chiefs’ Group lauded the individuals and
commended them for their leadership skills and
professionalism.
“We always look forward to welcoming our new
chiefs into the group, “said Chief Wasko. “These
individuals will continue to provide their leadership
to our Airmen and lead them in our continued War
on Terror. It’s a pleasure to have them on board.
“The Chief’s Recognition Ceremony is very
special, as it is a celebration of those who achieve
the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, congressionally
constrained to one percent of the total
enlisted force,” pointed out Chief Wasko. “These
new chiefs fully recognize they are here not because
of their accomplishments alone but also
due to the many superiors, peers, subordinates
and family members who have supported and
enabled them to reach this very important pinnacle
in their career. It is a celebration that we
hope they will always remember”.
How to Show Kids You Care
When members of the U. S. Armed
Forces are serving overseas, their
absence can be especially difficult
for their young children. Parents
and grandparents can maintain
strong family ties, assure these
youngsters they are loved, and
help them over the rough spots.
MOST IMPORTANT:
• Before the service member leaves
for duty, set aside time to talk with
children and encourage them to
express their feelings and concerns.
If they’re confused or angry, kids
may pretend they don’t care. Cut
through this “tough talk” to reach
your child’s heart.
• During the service member’s
absence, encourage kids to talk
about their thoughts and feelings.
They may be lonely for the
absent parent and perhaps feel
abandoned. They may fear for the
parent’s safety overseas, and they
may be concerned about their own
loss if the worst happens. Assure
children that they are deeply
loved.
• If you feel your child needs
professional counseling, seek
help immediately from the military,
the school, or other resources
in your community. Warning signs
include changes in personality,
anxiety or fear that is extreme,
feelings of worthlessness, change
in eating or sleeping habits, social
isolation, unexplained outbursts or
changes in mood, and inability to
concentrate.
KEEPING KIDS’ SPIRITS UP:
• Have your child prepare a scrapbook
of his or her activities, big
and small, and mail it to the
absent parent or put it in a special
place for the parent’s return.
• Photograph children in school
plays, ball games, and other events
and mail (or e-mail) the pictures
to the absent parent or put them
in a special place for the parent’s
return. If you can’t be there, give
the child a disposable camera so
he or she can capture the action.
• Sneak a funny picture or special
treat into your kid’s lunchbox or
gym bag, to be discovered during
the school day. If possible, ask the
absent parent to send a note or
photo for this purpose.
How to build a bomb
by Tech. Sgt. James Law
455th Air Expeditionary Wing Public Affairs
BAGRAM AIR BASE, Afghanistan
(AFPN) — “Some people think you
open a box and there is a bomb, ready to
be loaded on an aircraft,” said Tech. Sgt.
Erick Chrostowski, the 455th Expeditionary
Maintenance Squadron munitions
production supervisor here.
“There is more to it than that,” he
said. The initial steps of the process are
identifying, obtaining and storing the
assets essential to build the variations
of bombs needed to support different
mission requirements.
Once a specific bomb is requested,
the assets are moved from storage to
the munitions assembly conveyer pad,
where individual pieces collectively
become a bomb.
The basic elements of the guided
bomb unit-38s are the mark-82 500pound
bomb body, commonly known
as the warhead, the fuzes, fins and front
ends.
“There are different types of front
ends for (various) bombs,” said Senior
Airman Collin Dillingham, a conventional
maintenance crew member on the
assembly team. “There are bombs that
penetrate the ground before blowing up,
there are bombs that hit the ground and
blow up and there are bombs that blow
up above the ground.”
Just as there are different front ends
for different objectives, there are different
fins with different purposes.
“There are dumb fins, fins that do
not move like the classic cartoon bomb,
and there are the smart fins that drive
or guide the bomb,” Airman Dillingham
said.
The Airmen assembling the GBU-
38s are given a safety briefing before
dividing into teams.
“We have 10,000 pounds of net explosive
weight on the pad right now,”
Sergeant Chrostowski said. “If you see
anybody running, try to keep up.”
The final statement gets the Airmen’s
attention as intended. They go
to work, swiftly, yet vigilantly building
the bombs.
The first team loads the body onto
a trolley system where assembly begins.
One team places the front end
on while another installs the fuzes.
Once this phase is complete, the bomb
slides down the rail system to the team
building and installing the fins and
guidance control system. The last stage
before loading the bombs on a trailer
to deliver to the flightline is a complete
inspection performed by Sergeant
Chrostowski.
“There is job satisfaction when we
watch weapon systems video and see
our bombs do what they were supposed
to, whether it is assisting troops-incombat
or hitting a high-value target,”
Sergeant Chrostowski said.
The munitions built by the 455th
EMXS Airmen include 20 mm and 30
mm cannon ammunition, anti-threat
countermeasures, laser-guided bombs,
and joint direct attack munitions,
which are global positioning systmeaided
weapons.
The munitions will be employed by
F-15E Strike Eagles and A-10 Thunderbolt
IIs.
for the title.
In the championship game, 57th Ammo jumped
out to an early lead, thanks to some long-range
3-pointers. The 99th LRS answered with Herman
Atkins’ hot hand, also from 3-point land.
The 57th Ammo, riding the solid play on both ends
of the court by Gregory Wilson, ended the first half
with a 10-0 run to grab a 43-31 lead at the break.
Ammo’s Ulises Sanchez scored 14 points to help seal
the win. Defensively, 57th Ammo shut down the 99th
LRS’ fast break, slowing things down. The slow down
game enabled 57th Ammo to use their superior size
advantage to dominate the boards on both ends of the
court. Seven different players scored for 57th Ammo,
with Wilson leading all scorers with 26 points. After
the awards presentations, 99th LRS’ Christopher Logan
summed up the final game by saying “Tonight,
the best team won”.
Veterans Administration gets veterans going in
‘MOVE’ program
By Veterans Administration
Public Affairs
WASHINGTON — With
more than 70 percent of patients
coming to the Department
of Veterans Affairs (for
health care found to be overweight,
the VA is boosting its
efforts to increase veterans’
fitness through exercise, good nutrition and healthy lifestyles.
“VA’s patients should consider themselves partners with our health professionals
in managing their own care,” said Dr. James B. Peake, Secretary
of Veterans Affairs. “They need to ensure they eat right, exercise regularly
and stay on the move.”
MOVE, in fact, is the name for a VA program at each of the Department’s
153 medical centers in which veterans have their body fat measured and
receive “prescriptions” for exercises and nutrition.
VA officials say the need for fitness is clear. Not only do its veteran patients
have a higher rate of obesity than the rest of the country’s population,
but 20 percent of VA patients also have diabetes, a rate almost three times
higher than other Americans.
Under VA’s MOVE program, diabetic patients get regular screenings
of blood sugar levels and other problem areas. Patients can complete
a questionnaire about their lifestyle and vital signs that gives doctors
information about how to best support patients’ efforts to improve their
lifestyles.
Veterans and VA employees are eligible to take part in a “Champions
Challenge” by committing themselves to walk 100 miles in 100 days. Applications
can be made online at www.move.va.gov/challenge.asp.
There is an urgent need for foster parents in our area.
