Fortescue
and Qantas
off to a flying
start
Fortescue’s agreement with
Qantas to provide air services to
all of our sites commenced with
the first direct flight to Solomon
on Monday 23 April.
Cloudbreak passengers were
next with the first Qantas flight
landing at the Fortescue Dave
Forrest Aerodrome on Monday
30 April.
The exciting new service brings
many benefits for all of our travellers,
including the opportunity for all
of our employees and contractors
to earn Qantas Frequent Flyer
points, online check in and through
checking of baggage when you
travel from interstate.
Port Hedland travellers will move to
Qantas next, on Friday 1 July.
Fortescue’s Scheduling
Superintendent, Louise Wai, was at
Perth airport during the transition
weeks and is thrilled with the
smooth beginning. “Everyone has
adapted really well to the new checkin
arrangements and we’ve received
positive feedback from the Fortescue
Family about the change,” she said.
“We look forward to an extremely
successful partnership with Qantas in
the years to come.”
The commencement of Qantas
charter flights to Solomon and
Cloudbreak is the culmination of
months of hard work and planning
by teams across our business. Special
thanks to volunteers from the
Communications, Human Resources
and Flights teams who arrived at
the Perth airport at 4am every day
during the first two weeks of service
to provide support to our travellers.
