IO : Asynchronous IO (AIO)<br />

• Allows multiple requests to be sent without to have to wait until the disk subsystem has<br />

completed the physical IO.<br />

• Utilization of asynchronous IO is strongly advised whatever the type of file-system and mount<br />

option implemented (JFS, JFS2, CIO, DIO).<br />

�Posix vs Legacy<br />

Since AIX5L V5.3, two types of AIO are now available : Legacy and Posix. For the moment, the<br />

Oracle code is using the Legacy AIO servers.<br />
