longer viable. It was too easy for the authorities to surveil
and very inefficient on several levels – thus came the Free
Comradeships 16 ([FC] Freie Kameradshaften). The FCs
are a network of very loosely connected extremist cells
with a highly fragmented cell structure. They are not reg-
istered formally as civil society organizations, their
membership is very small and they work independently
from one another. They do have weak ties to one another
and they are capable of organizing propaganda actions
together, but they are not part of a behemoth organiza-
tion where everybody knows everything about everyone.
The internet and social media are means that enable this
type of organizational structure via making communica-
tion easier between the cells.
Similar processes have run their paths in Greece too. It is
less about the authorities in the Hellenic region than in
Germany and probably more about social media. Al-
though, averting authorities and arrests are always on the
agenda of extremist groups. Since 2008 many new ex-
tremist groups were founded in Greece and most of them
can be arguably classified as pseudo cells. The Conspir-
