Dean’s Message
It has been my pleasure since 2005 to serve as dean of the WSU College of Business, my alma mater. Serving also as a
faculty member since 1990, I have witnessed firsthand the College’s role as a driver of economic development in the
state of Washington, across the nation, and around the world. We have heavily invested in the future of commerce
through our commitment to conducting the highest quality research, offering world-class educational programs, and
providing a forum for the delivery of innovation. Related initiatives emanate from our primary strategic priorities:
• Research: Conducting quality research, publishing in our fields’ premier journals, and preparing doctoral students for academic
careers.
• Global Outlook: Broadly developing an appreciation in our students for the cultural and social dimensions of the global business
environment.
• Professional Perspectives: Developing professional and responsible future business leaders.
• Innovation: Fostering innovative ideas and entrepreneurial thinking in our students and faculty.
Over the past few years, the College of Business has consistently ranked in the top 60 among public national universities and in the top
70 overall by U.S. News and World Report’s America’s Best Colleges; The College of Business was ranked No #1 in Best Online Graduate
Business Programs for 2013 by U.S. News and World Report; our online MBA has been ranked among the country’s best by Princeton Review;
our Online MBA Program was ranked as a “best buy” and 53 out of 139 on GetEducated.com’s list of Best Online MBA programs; our
undergraduate International Business Program has been ranked in the top 20 since 2003 by U.S. News and World Report and was recently
13th among public national universities; our School of Hospitality Business Management has been ranked #1 in career services to its students,
as well as in the top 10 in research productivity, and our Information Systems Department is in the top 10 in research productivity. The WSU
College of Business is a vibrant, internationally-recognized educational environment.
WSU is a pioneer in online distance education and has been engaged in complete degree programs since the early 1990’s. Building on over
50 years of experience delivering graduate management education, the WSU College of Business is particularly well suited to offer the MBA
