Miss Ima Armstrong spent Friday<br />

Mrs. W. A. Gentry was a guest<br />
Friday of her parents, Mr. and Mrs.<br />
J. O. Dickey.<br />
Mrs. Lizzie Owen returned home<br />
Sunday after a two week’s stay with<br />
her daughter, Mrs. A. H. Fisher.<br />
Those on the sick list are Master<br />
Jean Hall, George Maddox, Ada and<br />
Frances Simmons.<br />
Miss Bonnie Judd was in Louisville<br />
Saturday.<br />
We are sorry to hear of the serious<br />
illness of Mr. Frank Wright, of the<br />
Bell’s Mill Road.<br />
Mrs. Curtsinger, widow of James<br />
Curtsinger, died of consumption at<br />
the home of her brother, Palmer<br />
Mattingly in the Cox’s Creek<br />
neighborhood, <strong>January</strong> 25, aged<br />
about 36 years. About three years<br />
ago, the Curtsinger family bought<br />
and moved to the Dallas Bogard<br />
farm from Washington <strong>County</strong>. Her<br />
husband and sister have both died of<br />
the same disease since the family<br />
moved to this community. Since she<br />
was failing so rapidly, two weeks<br />
ago her brother came and moved her<br />
to his home hoping that she might be<br />
benefitted by careful attention. Her<br />
remains were interred in Bethel<br />
Cemetery after brief services at the<br />
grave by Bro. Ryan. She leaves two<br />
sons, Louis and Marvin Curtsinger,<br />
a father, two brothers, three sisters<br />
and several step children.<br />
John Greenwell and family, of<br />
Highland park, have moved to W. S.<br />
Gentry’s cottage on the new cut<br />
road.<br />

Mrs. Violetta Thompson, who has<br />
been visiting her sister, Mrs. E. D.<br />

Porter, of Richmond, Ky has<br />
returned home and reports her sister<br />
is in bad health.<br />
Miss Ollie Lee Maraman is some<br />
better after a few days of sickness.<br />
Mr. Clifford Bolton is out again after<br />
some illness.<br />
Mr. Walter Syler, (sic) of Buchel,<br />
Ky called on Miss Texia Swearingen<br />
Sunday.<br />
Mr. Nathan Hughes went calling<br />
Tuesday night up at Lenora.<br />
Norman Bridwell has been spending<br />
a few days with Beckham Bolton.<br />
Smith Roby was down in lower<br />
Leaches Thursday.<br />
Mr. Paul B. Roby has purchased a<br />
new flivver and can see him going<br />
toward Cedar Grove any time.<br />
Mr. Vern Jones was in<br />
Shepherdsville Saturday.<br />
Mr. Lem Swearingen was in<br />
Shepherdsville last week on<br />
business.<br />
Has Charge of the Poor Farm<br />
The Fiscal Court met Friday and let<br />
the poor farm to Chas. Harris for a<br />
year. He is to receive his and his<br />
family’s board and $300 per year to<br />
take care of the paupers.<br />
J. M. Conley Death<br />
J. M. (Mike) Conley died at his<br />
home in Corydon, Ky, Jan. 24, aged<br />
76 years. He had suffered an attack<br />
of Gripe, but was thought to be<br />
much improved when the end came<br />
before medical aid could reach him.<br />
He was a son of John and Mary<br />
Conley and was born and raised in<br />
this county, going to Henderson<br />
<strong>County</strong> when a young man where he<br />
married Miss Nannie Dyer, who<br />
preceded his to the grave almost two
