operation this week, is doing nicely.<br />

Mrs. Fisher Harned and children of<br />

Belmont, have returned home after a<br />

three weeks visit to relatives in<br />

Tennessee.<br />

W. N. Griffin has returned home<br />

after spending the winter in Cuba.<br />

Pete Bitzer Dead<br />

Pete Bitzer, who was no doubt<br />

better known than any other citizen<br />

in Louisville to the police force, died<br />

Friday night of heart disease. He had<br />

been arrested more than 200 times.<br />

The local basketball players who<br />

went to Lexington last week did not<br />

win the cup but they won their first<br />

game 29 to 21 and lost the last game<br />

17 to 18.<br />

While we sympathize with those<br />

who lost so heavily in the recent fire<br />

in Shepherdsville and regret to lose<br />

the old landmarks, still we agree<br />

with the writer who said “nothing<br />

helps an old town so much as a first<br />

class fire” and when a new Main<br />

Street arises Phoenix-like from the<br />

ashes of the old, why, all will realize<br />

the fire as a blessing in disguise.<br />

Mrs. Melton and daughters went to<br />

the Jewish Hospital Sunday<br />

afternoon to see Miss Katherine<br />

Melton who was operated on for<br />

appendicitis last Tuesday. She is<br />

doing nicely and will leave the<br />

infirmary the latter part of the week.<br />

Roy Weller and Nolia Holsclaw,<br />

Fisherville, spent the week end with<br />

Hardin Holsclaw and family.<br />

Rev. Owen will fill his regular<br />

appointment here next Sunday. He<br />

has but a few more weeks as he goes
