Eagle Killed<br />

While hunting along Little Beech,<br />

about five miles from the city last<br />

Saturday, Bert Thompson, Doc<br />

Mudd and Sammie Clements took a<br />

number of shots at what they thought<br />

to be a large hawk. A number of shot<br />

found the mark and one wing of the<br />

bird was broken, bringing him to the<br />

ground. Upon investigation, the boys<br />

found they had crippled an eagle, the<br />

first seen in this county for many<br />

years. The bird, angered by his<br />

wounds, put up a strenuous fight and<br />

the boys experienced some trouble<br />

bringing him to town alive. The<br />

eagle had a wind spread of fifty-six<br />

inches. He was later killed by<br />
