Ernest Simmons, wife and little<br />
daughter, Lois, recently visiting Mr.<br />
and Mrs. James Ridgway.<br />
Mrs. Albert Fisher was a guest in the<br />
home of her brother, Edward Owen,<br />

Mrs. Georgie Gentry spent a day the<br />
past week with her sister, Mrs. Mat<br />

Five cows were recently condemned<br />
in this neighborhood and near here.<br />
Singleton Owen is selling out<br />
everything and we heard he will<br />
leave for Detroit, Michigan.<br />
Miss Lillian King will teach a spring<br />
school at Green Briar.<br />
W. S. Gentry as spent one afternoon<br />
last week with Mitch Moore and<br />
wife.<br />
Kirby Grant and wife entertained<br />
company Sunday.<br />
Elbert Bass and family spent Sunday<br />
with Albert Armstrong and wife.<br />
Will Simmons, wife and baby were<br />
guests Sunday of Mrs. John<br />
Stallings.<br />
Mrs. Newt Nelson, from the city,<br />
spent last week at the bedside of her<br />
father, Mr. Frank Wright, who is<br />
very ill.<br />
Mrs. Posey Grant spent a day last<br />
week with his (sic) mother, Mrs.<br />

Miss Ruthie Owen and two brothers,<br />
Leonard and Paul, spent a day last<br />
week with the family of Louis<br />

Rev. Burns filled his appointment<br />
here Saturday and Sunday and was<br />
entertained in the home of J. W.<br />

Miss Norma Ridgway spent a day<br />
the past week with Mrs. Harlie<br />

We were sorry to hear of the death<br />
of Mrs. Thomas McAfee and<br />
sympathize with many others with<br />
the sorrowing one and also with the<br />
relatives of Mrs. King.<br />
Mrs. Bettie Proctor, we are glad to<br />
say, is some better at this time. She<br />
can sit up all day.<br />
Tax Commissioners<br />
The Tax Commissioners for this<br />
year, which is composed of John H.<br />
Bell, Mitch Moore, Duke<br />
Thompson, and Myron Starks, after<br />
being in session for the past week<br />
going over the assessors books,<br />
adjourned Wednesday to meet again<br />
March 30 and 31 and hear<br />
complaints why their taxes should<br />
not be raised. The board at Frankfort<br />
raised this county about $310,000.<br />
On the Mt. Washington Road<br />
J. D. Burch spent Saturday night<br />
with his daughter, Mrs. Rosa<br />
Simmons and children.<br />
Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Cook spent part<br />
of last week at Wakefield with their<br />
son, Edward Cook and family.<br />
Rev. Ben Bush, wife and daughter of<br />
Louisville, spent Saturday night with<br />
Mr. and Mrs. Willis Mothershead.<br />
Miss Emma Gentry spent several<br />
days last week with Mrs. Basil Scott<br />
and Mrs. Sallie Gentry.<br />
Mr. and Mrs. Pearl King were<br />
guests Sunday of Mrs. King’s<br />
brother, Charles Fisher.<br />
A little daughter has arrived at the<br />

Mrs. Ollie Ridgway, Rolla and<br />
Charles Newton were called to<br />
Louisville last week to attend the<br />
funeral of their brother-in-law,<br />
Thomas Morehead. Mr. Morehead<br />
made his home in this community<br />
for several years and had many<br />
friends here who extend sympathy to<br />
his family.<br />
Mrs. Laura Owen is stilll confined to<br />
her bed after an attack of flu several<br />
weeks ago.<br />
Miss Margaret Owen visited her<br />
aunt, Mrs. Albert Fisher, part of last<br />
week.<br />
Mrs. Dorsey Hall, Mrs. Russell Hall<br />
and son were guests Thursday of<br />
Mrs. Preston Parrish.<br />
Mrs. Viola Owen, Mrs. Herman<br />
