St. Charles Preparatory School honored
three of its graduates with the St.
Charles Distinguished Alumnus Award
at its all-school Mass of Thanksgiving
on November 21. A reception was held
after the Mass in the Ann Cobler Student
Lounge on the second floor of the Student
Services & Fine Arts Center.
The award recognized alumni who have
honored St. Charles Preparatory School
by their outstanding volunteer activities;
professional achievements; communityorganization
advocacy; and for serving
as shining examples of high moral and
ethical standards.

A triumphant return

The Saint Charles
Alumni Association
on Sunday,
February 25,
sponsored the St.
Charles Spaghetti
Dinner in the
magnificent Robert
C. Walter Student
Commons. It was
a triumphant
return of a special
Michael S. Probst ’89
event in support
of our Cardinal
community after an interruption of many
years. The turnout of 1,200 exceeded
expectations.
The Alumni Association extends a warm
“thank you” to Anthony and TJ Susi
(and Mama Susi, too, for rolling all those
meatballs by hand!!), as well as their
staff at Berwick Manor for their generous

St. Charles presents Distinguished Alumnus Awards
to 3 grads
St. Charles specifically chooses the
all-school Mass as the forum at which
to honor these men because it enables
the school to publicly acknowledge their
achievements and to hold them up as
visible role models for the student body to
emulate.
Those honored were:
Robert H. Albert, Class of 1949, in
recognition of his longtime success as a
member of the legal profession; as leader
in the business community; and for his
service to the Church, especially at St.
Joseph Cathedral in downtown Columbus;

contributions to this effort. Their
participation was decisive in our ability
to offer a great meal at a tremendously
bargain price. Thank all of you for being
so accommodating to St. Charles in
facilitating this event!
We also want to recognize all the
volunteers who devoted their time and
efforts to help make the dinner such an
overwhelming success. They included
Saint Charles past and present faculty
members, staff members, alumni,
students, parents, family members and
members of the Alumni Association.
Without your dedication and time, we
would not have been able to pull off this
very successful event. Thank you!
A very special thanks to Homer Beard
’46, Gerard Barrow ’72, and Phil Caito ’72,
who worked the entire day on site helping
me in so many ways. Special kudos to the
St. Charles Concert band and its director,
Rick Brunetto, for two hours of great
entertainment!
We hope you all enjoyed your dinner
and social interaction with our St. Charles
community. We look forward to planning,
Daniel D. Connor, Class of 1957, in
recognition of his longtime success in the
legal profession and leader in the business
community; and compassion toward his
fellow man as represented through his
philanthropy and selfless community
service.

Full House
St. Charles drew a big crowd to its 2006 Open House
for eighth-grade boys and their parents last November.
More than 240 young men and their family members attended.
Afternoon events began in the campus theatre
and included tours and a visit with coaches in the
multi-purpose building.
