New Turf Field Awaits Cardinals - St. Charles Preparatory School

Summertime is most definitely here
for the young Cardinals of St. Charles!
They’ve spent the last four months in the
classroom daydreaming about running,
hitting, sliding, blocking, scoring goals,
hard tackles, shootouts, winning base
hits, fly patterns and storming the field
as Walt Plank Field took shape. Those
dreams of athletic prowess are a lot closer
to reality thanks to the S.C. leadership
team of Dominic J. Cavello ’64 and Jim
Lower who called in the “pros” to ensure
all of those glorious scenarios could unfold.

Upcoming Alumni Association Events
Homecoming
The St. Charles Alumni Association invites you to attend its
annual complimentary Homecoming Tailgate and post-game
Pizza Party, to be held on Friday, Sept. 14, 2007. Come and
see the beautiful new Walt Plank Field and cheer on the
Cardinals to a victory over Marion Harding!
The tailgate party starts at 6 p.m. with brats, hot dogs,
chips, and cold drinks being served alongside the theatre
building. After the game the Association is holding a Pizza
Party and serving the famous pizza from Plank’s Café in the
theatre building’s Cavello Center.

turns to constructing a brick and
limestone plaza for a new entranceway,
ticket booths, concession facilities.
With that said, the St. Charles student
body extends a big “Thank You” to all of
the work crews who labored laying the
foundation and getting the grade “just
right” for the new turf, our terrific Parents
Fund Committee and Tom O’Leary
’64 who worked tirelessly asking for
financial support, and our very generous
parents and alumni who are there to support
S.C. when a special project like this
needs a boost.
All of your sacrifice and kindness helps
make St. Charles Preparatory School very
special.
Alumni Golf Outing
The location and date of the 2007 Alumni Golf Outing
have not been established yet. If you’d like to play or have
a foursome in mind, e-mail Louis J. Fabro ’83 (lfabro@
stcharlesprep.org) and he’ll be in touch as soon as plans are
finalized.
Interested parties are also invited to advertise your
business or honor your class by sponsoring one of the Open’s
18 holes for $100 each. Your information will appear on one
of the 16” x 24” tee box signs. Call Louis for more information
or to reserve a hole.
