TOOL STANDS FOR QC-5 TO QC-21<br />

TSS Modular <strong>Tool</strong> Stand System<br />

The <strong>ATI</strong> TSS (<strong>Tool</strong> Stand Small) Modular <strong>Tool</strong> Stand<br />

System is compatible with the small range of <strong>ATI</strong> <strong>Tool</strong><br />

<strong>Changer</strong>s—models QC-5 through QC-21. The <strong>Tool</strong> Stand<br />

System is designed for maximum flexibility to fit most<br />

customer applications. The TSS system provides a<br />

unique option to either use interface plates or empty<br />

pneumatic ports on the <strong>Tool</strong> <strong>Changer</strong> as attachment<br />

points for your tooling.<br />

Product Features<br />

Interface Plate<br />

The TSS Interface Plate Assembly provides an interface between your<br />

tool and the <strong>Tool</strong> <strong>Changer</strong>. The Interface plates are sized specifically to<br />

correspond with the <strong>Tool</strong> <strong>Changer</strong> and TSS Rack.<br />

Rack Assembly<br />

The TSS Rack Assembly includes a rigid U-shaped plate with V-grooves<br />

that interface with stainless steel alignment pins mounted to the<br />

tooling. This groove-pin combination allows for compliance in the<br />

horizontal plane, and also provides repeatable tool positioning.<br />

<strong>Tool</strong> Presence Sensing<br />

<strong>Tool</strong> Presence Sensing uses an 8 mm diameter proximity sensor. This<br />

option is highly recommended to detect when the tool is properly<br />

nested in a Rack.<br />

Mounting Block<br />

The TSS Mounting Block Assembly mounts to the Rail. It can be<br />

positioned anywhere along the rail to the desired height. Then the TSS<br />

Rack, or 3, 4, or 5 Position <strong>Tool</strong> Adapter Bars can mount to the Block.<br />

Base Assembly<br />

The TSS Base Assembly consists of a square, aluminum, machined base<br />

plate, and hardware that attaches to the TSS Rail and TSS Gusset<br />

Assembly. The base provides a secure foundation on which to build the<br />

<strong>Tool</strong> Stand System.<br />

Rail and Gusset Assemblies<br />

The TSS Rail and Gusset Assemblies mount to the Base Assembly and<br />

include alignment and mounting hardware.<br />

Locking <strong>Tool</strong> Stand Mounting Block<br />

The Locking Small <strong>Tool</strong> Stand Mount is a secure option for tool storage.<br />

It includes a steel, machined block with a rigid V-shaped groove and<br />

center hole that interfaces with the <strong>Tool</strong> plate. The assembly also<br />

features a locking pneumatic cylinder. Supplying air pressure to the<br />

cylinder unlocks the Mounting Block, releasing the tool from the Vblock.<br />

After the robot uncouples from the <strong>Tool</strong> <strong>Changer</strong>, the locking<br />

cylinder can be energized to keep the tool fully secured in the stand.<br />

This locking feature is ideal for applications that require non-horizontal<br />

tool storage, have offset tool center-of-gravity, and applications where<br />

tooling hoses and cables work against the weight of the tool during<br />

normal tool storage situations.<br />
