Assistance systems<br />
Parking system, rear<br />
makes reverse parking easier within system limits by<br />
indicating acoustically how far away the vehicle is from<br />
an object detected behind the vehicle; measurement<br />
is by ultrasonic sensors integrated discreetly in the<br />
bumper<br />
Parking system plus with selective display<br />
acoustic and visual parking aid for front and rear.<br />
Working within system limits, a white segment indicates<br />
a detected obstacle outside the vehicle. Red segments<br />
represent obstacles in the driving path. This<br />
provides the driver with a selective optical view in the<br />
MMI display of all the objects recognised, depending<br />
on the current bend radius and direction of travel. The<br />
virtual lane display in conjunction with MMI navigation<br />
plus with MMI touch additionally provides guidelines<br />
at the sides which are calculated at in advance depending<br />
on the current angle of turn, thus supporting safe<br />
and scratch-free parking and leaving of parking spaces<br />
by specifying the right steering angle; measurement is<br />
by ultrasonic sensors integrated discreetly in the<br />
bumpers, can optionally be ordered with rearview<br />
camera<br />
Park assist with selective display<br />
as parking system plus with selective display; in addition ultrasonic sensors are used to search for parking spaces<br />
by the roadside, calculate the ideal parking path for cross parking spaces and the ideal path for parking and leaving<br />
kerb-side parking spaces; the steering action is performed entirely by the system. Assisted parking is now even<br />
possible in smaller parking spaces and bend areas; parking in several moves is supported. Steering is done by the<br />
vehicle, while the driver only needs to accelerate and apply the brakes. The display of surroundings has 4 additional<br />
sensors which, depending on the steering angle, indicate obstacles detected all around and at the side of the<br />
vehicle and warn the driver, thus supporting safe and scratch-free parking and leaving of parking spaces by<br />
showing the lane; can optionally be ordered with rearview camera<br />
Rearview camera<br />
Camera image of area behind the vehicle shown on the MMI display, with dynamic display modes showing the<br />
calculated path (steer-angle dependent); includes auxiliary lines and guidelines in the camera image and for<br />
identification of the point at which to apply opposite lock when parallel parking; rearview camera integrated<br />
discreetly in the handle strip of the luggage compartment lid<br />

Dynamic suspension<br />
McPherson spring strut type axle at the front with<br />
aluminium lower wishbones, aluminium subframe and<br />
tubular stabiliser. 4-link rear axle with separate<br />
spring/damper arrangement, subframe and tubular<br />
stabiliser; the 1.6 TDI (77 kW) entry-level engine has a<br />
lightweight compound link rear suspension.<br />
Sport suspension<br />
body lowered by approx. 15 mm, with stiffer set<br />
suspension and damping for more direct contact with<br />
the road and sporty handling<br />
