LUXURY FOR
LESS
UK travellers searching
for top-of-the-range hotel
accommodation for less
were able to benefit from
some significant price
falls in 5- and 4-star prices
across the world during
2012.
The highest 5-star falls
were in Guangzhou with
a 30% drop to an average
£130 and Buenos Aires
sliding 20% to £262. With
the economic woes in
Europe, luxury breaks
became considerably
cheaper and many
European cities appeared
in the list with double-digit
falls greater than in recent
years. Zurich was down
17% to £145, Venice down
16% to £214, Oslo down
11% to £163 with prices
paid in Budapest, Vienna,
Frankfurt and Barcelona all
down 10% to £96, £144, £158
and £175 respectively.
The same was true in
the 4-star range with
Biarritz down 13% to £118,
Milan down 11% to £102,
Rome down 11% to £105
and Madrid down 10% to
£78. Elsewhere, Cairo and
Jerusalem both had a
slide of 11% to £78 and £118
respectively.
