Windmills & Tulips - The Best of Holland 

18th – 23rd April 6 Day Tour 

In April and May the fields of Western Holland explode in a riot of colour, as millions of tulips 

and other bulbs come into bloom. There’s always something new to see at the spectacular 

Keukenhof Gardens, and this tour allows you time to see Amsterdam, take a canal cruise, 

visit the diamond factory, cheese & clog factory, and much more too. With our own luxury 

coach and driver/guide throughout the tour this really is a hassle free way to tour Western 

Holland and be taken to see it’s best attractions. 

Thur 18th: Letterkenny – Larne – Cairnryan – Hull 

From Cairnryan we take a scenic journey along the Scottish borders and then south through 

Yorkshire before boarding a luxury P&O Cruise Ferry for our overnight sailing to Rotterdam. 

Fri 19th: Rotterdam - Keukenhof Gardens - Volendam 

After breakfast we disembark the ferry in Rotterdam. We make our way north to one of the 

highlights of this tour, a visit to the famous Keukenhof Gardens. These landscape gardens 

welcome more than 900,000 visitors each spring. It’s bright flower-beds, green lawns, 

winding canals, & ponds, make a spectacular sight, and can be viewed from the footbridge at 

the Keukenhof windmill. This afternoon we visit a ‘clog & cheese’ workshop before arriving 

at our hotel in the old traditional fishing town of Volendam. 

Sat 20th: Day in Amsterdam 

This morning we travel to Amsterdam for a cruise along Amsterdam’s canals. We disembark 

at a diamond factory where you can watch the craft workers cutting, polishing, sorting, & 

setting the glittering gems. We give you the afternoon free in Amsterdam before making the 

short journey back to Volendam. 

Sun 21st: Free Day in Volendam 

Today we have a free day to really enjoy the beauty of Volendam and all it’s culture. Perhaps 

take a boat trip to the nearby peninsula of Marken, or dress up in traditional costume for a 

souvenir photo. 

Mon 22nd: Volendam - The Hague – Kinderdijk - Rotterdam 

We have the morning free in Volendam and in the afternoon we travel to the beautiful city of 

The Hague, home to cosy sidewalk cafes, amazing architecture, and Holland’s government. 

We visit the village of Kinderdijk, with 19 old windmills it is the largest concentration of old 

windmills in Holland. We then continue to Europort, the world’s largest port, for our return 

crossing to Hull. 

Tue 23rd: Hull – Gretna Green – Cairnryan – Larne – Letterkenny 

As we make our way home, we stop at the famous “Blacksmith’s Cottage” in Gretna 

Green before catching the afternoon sailing to Larne. We will arrive back in Letterkenny at 

approximately 8:30pm.

The Rhine Valley is one of Germany’s most popular attractions, and it is easy to understand 

why, given the spectacular scenery. Throughout our tour we see the many vineyards, charming 

villages, and fairy-tale castles clinging to the steeply wooded sides of this amazing gorge. Our 

luxurious 4 star superior hotel is set in the heart of Boppard, the valley’s premier resort. 


From Cairnryan we take a scenic journey along the Scottish borders and then south through 

Yorkshire before boarding a luxury P&O Cruise Ferry for our overnight sailing to Rotterdam. 

Fri 28th: Rotterdam – Boppard, Germany 

After breakfast we disembark the ferry in Europort Rotterdam, the world’s largest port. We 

travel through the flat lands of Holland before crossing into Germany. We arrive in Koblenz 

and follow the Rhine down to our luxurious hotel on the riverbank in Boppard. 

Sat 29th: Free Day in Boppard 

A day at leisure spent in the historic but lively Boppard. Located on the banks of the Rhine, 

Boppard is the jewel of the Rhine Valley. It is surrounded by steep vineyards and sits on 

a spectacular bend in the Rhine, upon which there is a constant flow of river traffic. The 

town is small enough to get to know quickly, and the town’s excellent facilities include a 

riverside promenade, many historic buildings, and a good range of shops, cafes, bars, and 

restaurants. It is possible to take a sightseeing river cruise from Boppard, or a chair lift for 

a view of the river from on high. 

Sun 30th: Tour of the Rhine 

Today we embark on a spectacular tour of the Rhine Valley. We begin with a visit to the 

Cuckoo Clock Shop in St. Goar, a pretty village nestled at the foot of the Rheinfels Castle. We 

get a great view the famous Loreley rock as we continue on to Bingen where we cross the 

Rhine to the magical town of Rudesheim, with it’s charming, narrow streets and wine cellars 

serving the local Riesling. We return to the hotel with time to relax before dinner. 

Mon 1st: Moselle Valley and Cochem 

After a easy start to the day we take a trip along the Moselle Valley to the historic city of 

Cochem. Here we give you some free time to enjoy the atmosphere of this captivating area 

of the Moselle, famous for it’s own local wine. We travel back to Boppard with ample time to 

enjoy our final evening in this romantic gorge. 

Tues 2nd: Boppard - Cologne – Rotterdam 

We travel back through Northern Germany with a stop in Cologne, the capital of the 

Rhineland, famous for its truly amazing cathedral. We then continue to Rotterdam for our 

overnight luxury sailing to Hull. 

Wed 3rd: Hull – Cairnryan – Larne - Letterkenny 

From Hull we drive to Gretna, before boarding our ferry in Cairnryan. We arrive back in 

Letterkenny at approx. 8:30pm after a spectacular week spent in the majestic valley.

Wed 10th: Day at Sea - Today we sail North towards the Baltic Sea, giving us a 

chance to familiarise ourselves with the ship and the range of facilities on board. 

Thur 11th: Aalborg, Denmark - First port of call is the Viking port of Aalborg. 

Fri 12th: Warnemunde, Germany - Today we can enjoy the popular seaside 

resort & sandy beaches of Warnemunde, or for a different taste of Germany we can take 

an optional tour to visit a cold war bunker or make the long but rewarding journey to see 

the many famous sights of Berlin. 

Sat 13th: Day at Sea - We can take today as an opportunity to relax & revitalize. 

Sun 14th : Saaremaa Island, Estonia - Today we visit Saaremaa, the largest 

and most popular Estonian island, where we can step back in time and see thatched roofs, 

stone walls, & many working windmills. 

Mon 15th : Tallinn, Estonia - Tallinn is unquestionably one of Europe’s most 

magical capitals, and the city, bursting with medieval charm, is small and compact 

enough to give you the full Tallinn experience in a day. 

Tues & Wed: St Petersburg, Russia (overnight stay) - An overnight stay 

in St. Petersburg, ‘The Jewel in the Baltic Crown’ - an elegant city built on 40 islands, 

and once the summer residence of the Russian Tsars. The city is enchanting during the 

‘White Nights’ of midsummer where a brief twilight blends into dawn. There is an option 

to attend the world famous Russian Ballet. NOTE: Passengers on Fred Olsen organised

Friday is market day in Stresa so we have the morning free to enjoy a browse. In the 

afternoon we make the short journey to one of Italy’s best kept secrets, Lake Orta. 

Sat 10th: Lake Maggiore – Sustenpass – Flueli-Ranft, Switzerland 

We leave Italy and drive over the Sustenpass, a spectacular Alpine pass, to arrive in 

our charming hotel located in an idyllic setting overlooking the Sarrnen Valley. 

Sun 11th: Flueli-Ranft - Lucerne - Karlsruhe, Germany 

We have the morning free in Lucerne, a picturesque tourist town with medieval squares, 

frescoed houses, churches and chapels. This afternoon we travel to Karlsruhe, Germany. 

Mon 12th: Karlsrude - Rotterdam 

We travel back through Northern Germany and it’s picturesque vineyards, before arriving in 

Rotterdam for our overnight luxury sailing to Hull. 

Tues 13th : Hull– Cairnryan – Larne - Letterkenny 

From Hull we drive to Gretna, before boarding our ferry in Cairnryan. We arrive

We take the ferry from Dublin Port to Holyhead before travelling along the beautiful 

North Wales coast. We continue south with a stop en-route to arrive at our 4 star hotel in 

Daventry. 

Thur 22nd : Daventry – Folkestone – Eurotunnel – Calais - Paris 

Today we make our way to Folkestone for the 35 minute Eurotunnel crossing to France. 

From Calais we travel through Northern France to arrive in Paris, our home for the next four 

nights. 

Fri 23rd : Paris City Tour 

What better way to start our holiday in Paris than with a guided city tour, where we will 

view the famous sites such as the Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Elyseés, Eiffel Tower, etc. 

After an introduction to this beautiful city we have a free afternoon to explore and visit the 

attractions of our choice. 

Sat 24th: Cruise on the River Seine – Afternoon free in Paris 

A leisurely start to the day with a sight-seeing cruise along the River Seine. This afternoon 

can be spent in Paris at our own leisure, perhaps choose a trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower 

or a stroll through the shops in one of the fashion capitals of the world. 

Sun 25th: Monet’s Gardens at Giverny – Chateau de Versailles 

The day begins with a short drive into Normandy for a visit to Monet’s Gardens at Giverny, 

famous for their water lilies. In the afternoon we continue on to Versailles to see the former 

Royal Palace, one of the world’s most famous chateaux and home to the largest palace 

gardens in Europe. 

Mon 26th: Paris – London - Watford 

This morning we bid farewell to the romantic city and board the high-speed Eurostar train 

and make the 2 1/2 hr journey to London where our coach will meet us. In London why not 

hit the shops on Oxford Street, visit a museum, or join us for a guided city tour followed by 

free time. Tonight we stay in Watford, just north of London. 

Tues 27th: Watford – Holyhead – Dublin Port - Letterkenny 

This morning we travel North to Holyhead with comfort stops en-route before we board our 

ferry, taking us back to Dublin where we return to Donegal with wonderful memories of two 

of the top cities in the world.

We enjoy a relaxing day in Vianden, a small, pretty, tourist town with a picturesque location 

right on the banks of the River Our, home to pavement cafes, souvenir shops, historic 

buildings, and chair lift. This afternoon we visit the beautifully restored Chateau de Vianden 

situated overlooking the town, and voted one of the top tourist attractions in Luxembourg. 

Sun 8th: Day Tour to Luxembourg City 

Today we enjoy a full day in Luxembourg City. We are treated with a morning guided tour 

of the city’s sights including Luxembourg Castle Ruins, the Grand Ducal Palace, and the 

Cathedral of Notre Dame. 

Mon 9th: Day Excursion to Trier, Germany 

A trip to Trier, the oldest city in Germany. Trier, once the regional Roman capital, offers a 

host of well preserved reminders of bygone days with it’s amphitheatre and thermal baths. 

Tues 10th: Vianden - Afternoon in Valkenburg – Rotterdam 

The pretty resort of Valkenburg, often referred to as ‘Little Switzerland’ for it’s rolling hills 

and sloping forests, lies in an unusually hilly area of Holland. We experience the resort’s 

unique character and continental atmosphere, with lively pavement cafes, and pretty flower 

gardens. For the more adventurous perhaps enjoy a trip on the cable car or a visit to the 

underground caves. 

Wed 11th: Hull – Cairnryan – Larne - Letterkenny 

After our overnight sailing we drive to Gretna, before boarding our ferry in Cairnryan. We 

arrive back in Letterkenny at approx. 8:30pm after a spectacular week spent in the Grand 

Duchy.

This morning we make the short journey (just 12 miles) to the City of Dubrovnik. We begin 

with a guided tour of the Old Town, followed by a free afternoon to do as we please. 

Fri 13th: Free Day in Cavtat 

A day to relax in this traditional seaside town - a delightful resort set in a picturesque bay 

and harbour, the tree-lined promenade has many pleasant cafes, restaurants, bars and gift 

shops for us to wander along. 

Sat 14th: Day to Medjugorje 

For many this pilgrimage will be a highlight of their holiday, Medjugorje is a special place 

visited by thousands each year seeking the spirituality and serenity that can be felt here.

Today we leave Boston and make the short journey to Cape Cod where we stay at The 

Irish Village in Yarmouth for 3 nights with dinner & breakfast included each night. Cape 

Cod is the perfect place to relax, and is known for it’s fantastic beaches, fishing villages, 

and even whale watching! While here we will enjoy a leisurely day to the beautiful 

island of Nantucket, just off the Cape, and will also have plenty of free time to relax in 

the Irish Village, or perhaps visit the Mall in Hyannis. 

Thur - Tue: Cape Cod - New York (5 Nights) 

Today we leave Cape Cod and make our way to the “Big Apple” itself, New York City. We 

will be staying in central Manhattan at the Wellington Hotel, a great location just five 

minutes walk from Time Square. Over the next five days in the city we have a chance 

to walk the Brooklyn Bridge, have breakfast in Ellen’s Stardust Diner where the waiters 

will sing while we dine, or ‘shop ‘til we drop’ in Macys. 

We include a 2 day ticket for the hop-on, hop-off ‘New York City Sightseeing Tour’ 

which includes the Downtown Tour, the Uptown & Harlem Tour, the Brooklyn Tour and

This St. Patrick’s weekend we have a wonderful break to Blackpool for the 7th “Ultimate 

Irish Entertainment Weekend”, featuring a host of top Irish artists. 

There is a great holiday atmosphere in Blackpool and we will be spoilt for choice for 

what to do by day and entertained by the best country stars at night! 

Fri 15th: Letterkeny - Belfast - Cairnryan – Blackpool 

We travel to Belfast for the mid-morning sailing to Cairnryan before continuing to 

Blackpool. This evening after dinner we enjoy the first night of music with Charlie 

Landsborough, and Stephen Smyth and his band. 

Sat 16th: Free Day in Blackpool 

Today we have a leisurely day in Blackpool to enjoy the many attractions on offer. A 

chance to explore the ‘Golden Mile’, walk along one of Blackpool’s three Piers, or visit 

the iconic Blackpool Tower, where we can travel 518ft to the glass floor at the top or 

perhaps take a waltz around the magnificent tower ballroom. Once again this evening 

we will be entertained by a great combination of country music stars. 

Sun 17th: Free Morning in Blackpool – Optional Trip to Southport 

A Sunday morning at leisure in Blackpool. In the afternoon we have the option of a visit to 

the scenic seaside town of Southport. This pretty town with the beautiful tree lined Lord 

Street is a regular winner of the Britain in Bloom floral awards. For our final night we are 

treated to a finale of country music with Dominic Kirwan, Gary Gamble, Brendan Shine, 

& Roy Walker.

This morning we leave our home by the sea, and travel north, stopping in well-known 

Gretna Green, en-route to Cairnryan for our ferry home.

As we depart Chester, we travel South, enjoying a leisurely stop in the beautiful town 

of Stratford upon Avon, before completing our journey to London. 

Fri 24th: Full Day at Chelsea Flower Show 

Today, prepare to be amazed at the beauty of the gardens on display. Each year in 

May, the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea are transformed into the fabulous 

show gardens, inspirational small gardens and vibrant horticultural displays that make 

up the world’s most famous flower show. Whilst here, you have the opportunity to 

purchase a wide range of gardening accessories and many new gardening products 

making their debut at the show. 

Sat 25th: Free Day in London – Optional Morning City Tour 

Today is a free day to spend as you please. Perhaps visit family and friends in London, 

‘shop ‘til you drop’ in Oxford Street, or admire the views from the ‘London Eye’. This 

morning there is an optional city tour, taking in London’s famous sights including Big 

Ben & The Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, and London Bridge to name but 

a few. 

Sun 26th: London – Holyhead – Dun Laoghaire - Letterkenny 

After a fantastic time, we leave London and travel North to Holyhead. We board our 

ferry, taking us back to the Emerald Isle. We arrive back in Letterkenny with plenty of 

new ideas and our green fingers itching to tackle our gardens at home!

Today we see the beauty of the gentle hillsides (‘wolds’), and sleepy villages of the 

Cotswolds, and towns such as Chipping Campden, Bourton-on-the-Water, & Stow-onthe-Wold, 

that have made the Cotswolds so popular. 

Sat 13th: Day to Oxford and Windsor 

Our first visit today is to Oxford, known as the City of Spires, and famous for it’s many 

universities. In the afternoon we continue to the Royal town of Windsor, where we can 

see Windsor Castle, the largest inhabited castle in the world. 

Sun 14th: Swindon – Bath - Stoke 

Today we visit the historic City of Bath where we can visit the famous Roman baths 

and enjoy time in this very popular city. In the afternoon we make our way north to our 

overnight hotel near Stoke. 

Mon 15th: Stoke - Holyhead – Dublin Port - Letterkenny 

Today we travel back to Holyhead with a stop in the little village with the longest

After disembarking the ferry, we travel from Stranraer, stopping at the mystifying 

‘Electric Brae’ and Robbie Burns’ Cottage, before arriving in Glasgow. 

Tues 23rd: Glasgow – Loch Lomond – Glencoe – Loch Ness – Inverness 

First stop today is the picture perfect village of Luss on the shore of Loch Lomond. We 

then travel through the dramatic setting of Glencoe and past the foot of Ben Nevis 

before travelling along the shores of Loch Ness en-route to the capital of the Highlands, 

Inverness for two nights. Make sure you bring your camera today, this is scenery at it’s 

best! 

Wed 24th: Free Day in Inverness – Optional Tour to 

Dunrobin Castle 

A day at leisure in Inverness, why not take a walk along the river, visit the castle or

This morning we leave Inverness and visit “The Heather Centre” and a whiskey distillery 

before stopping in the beautiful floral town of Pitlochry where many Irish worked in 

years gone by. We continue our journey south to the Scottish capital, Edinburgh. 

Fri 26th: Edinburgh City Tour – Free Day in Edinburgh 

The olde style charm of cultural Edinburgh, complemented with it’s friendly and relaxing 

atmosphere, makes it one of the most memorable cities you can visit. Shopping,

Tues 30th: Day to Leeds Castle 

Today we make the short journey to Leeds Castle, described by Lord Conway as “the 

loveliest castle in the world”. The castle, set within 500 acres of beautiful parkland, is 

built on two islands and is encircled majestically by a moat. Within the castle grounds 

there is a secret grotto, a maze, a bird aviary, and a vineyard. 

Wed 31st: Day Trip to Calais, France 

Our close proximity to the English Channel makes a day trip to Calais an easy option. 

We enjoy some time in this French seaside resort, and indulge in some French cuisine, 

fitting in a chance for some shopping at one of the famous French hyper-markets. 

Thurs 1st : Day to Canterbury 

Canterbury, home of the ‘Canterbury Tales’, is a beautiful historic city overflowing 

with olde-world style charm and character. It’s narrow cobbled streets are lined with 

crooked buildings and quaint olde style shop fronts. The city’s cathedral is one of the 

oldest Christian structures in England and is well worth a visit. 

Fri 2nd : Maidstone – Althorp - Coventry 

Today we visit the family home of the Spencer family and the final resting place of 

Princess Diana - Althorp. Here we will have time to visit the house and the exhibition, 

“Diana, A Celebration”, before we continue on to Coventry for our final night. 

Sat 3rd: Coventry – Holyhead – Dun Laoghaire - Letterkenny 

We make the journey to Holyhead to catch our ferry to Dublin and make our way back 

to Letterkenny.

40 different species! Afterwards we travel to our hotel in Birmingham, arriving early

Mon 29th: Full Day at Drayton Manor Theme Park & Thomas Land 

This morning after breakfast, we will make the short journey to Drayton Manor, one of 

the UK’s best theme parks, for a full day to enjoy all the rides and attractions including

Tues 30th: Cadbury World - Legoland Discovery Centre – Overnight Ferry

chocolate and how it is made. Afterwards we will travel to Manchester for a visit to the

This morning we travel to Belfast Airport for our mid-day flight to Jersey. On arrival we

Our hotel is located in the traditional seaside town of St. Helier, a delightful resort set 

in a picturesque bay and harbour. The town is also the capital of Jersey and boasts a 

tree-lined promenade with many pleasant cafes, restaurants, bars and gift shops for us 

to wander along. 

Mon 26th: Day Tour of the Island 

Today we enjoy a leisurely tour of the island visiting all the main sights including the 

stunning ‘St Brelades Bay’, the iconic ‘Corbiere Lighthouse’, the small ‘glass church’ in 

St Aubin’s Bay, and more. We return to St Helier via the picturesque East Coast. 

Tues 27th: Free Day in St. Helier 

Another chance to settle into the pace of island life in St Helier, perhaps enjoy a day 

strolling through the shops in the centre of town, or visit ‘Elizabeth Castle’ just down 

the small causeway from the harbour. Maybe visit the highly recommended museum for 

an insight into the history of the island or treat yourself to some time in the luxurious 

Ayush Wellness Spa. All these attractions are only a short walk from our hotel. 

Wed 28th: Tour to the Jersey War Tunnels 

Today we step back in time and really get a feel for the five year long ‘Occupation’ of 

Jersey in World War II. We travel by vintage open-top bus to the German underground 

hospital, now known as the ‘Jersey War Tunnels’ for a compelling story of the island’s 

history. 

Thur & Fri: Two Free Days in St. Helier 

Relax, relax, relax - enjoy two more days by the golden beaches and crystal clear sea 

of Jersey, the warmest place in the British Isles. Located only 14 miles from the French 

coast, why not take a day trip to St Malo? (note: passport will be required if travelling

Today we leave the busy streets of London and make the short journey to the Royal 

town of Windsor, on the banks of the Thames. For our last night in London we make a 

trip to the famous West-End. 

Mon 19th: London - Althorp - Stoke 

Today we leave London and travel back north with a special visit to the home of the 

Spencer family - Althorp. We will have time to visit the house and the exhibition, “The 

Diana Collection”. After leaving Althorp we continue to our overnight hotel near Stoke 

for the last night of the tour. 

Tue 20th: Stoke - Holyhead – Dublin - Letterkenny 

On our last day we travel along Wales’s north coast on our way to Holyhead to catch 

the ferry back to Dublin, before continuing home to Donegal.

Today we visit the tranquil island of Iona, best know as the place St. Colmcille chose

This morning we leave the Isle of Mull and make our way along the “Road to the Isles”, 

taking in Glenfinnan, before catching the ferry to the Isle of Skye for our next two

Today we enjoy a full day on the Isle of Skye including a visit to Dunvegan Castle and

“A morning in the lakes and an afternoon in the Dales”. We start the day with a visit to 

the beautiful Bowness-on-Windermere, where we board our lake cruiser for a trip to 

the southern shore. Here we rejoin the coach for our journey through the rolling dales, 

stopping at the quaint village of Pateley Bridge, home of Britain’s oldest sweet shop.

Sun 15th: Esholt (Emmerdale) - Harrogate 

Today we visit the village of Esholt, used for the exterior filming of “Emmerdale”. The 

village is no longer used for filming as the crew have now moved to a purpose built set, 

but the village is still popular with fans wanting to see the pub formally used as the 

Woolpack, and other buildings associated with the series. We spend the afternoon in 

the award winning floral town of Harrogate, while here why not enjoy a cuppa in the 

famous Betty’s Tea Room! 

Mon 16th: Free Day in York 

The beautiful medieval city of York has 2000 years of history in one compact city. With

This morning we make the short journey to the beautiful town of Cobh, the last port 

of call for the ill-fated Titanic. We continue to Kilkenny, the marble city, where you can 

visit it’s splendid castle or enjoy a walk along the old streets in the pedestrian centre.

A three day tour to Scotland’s premier agricultural show. This year’s show really has got 

something for everyone and includes the best of:- 

Food & Drink - This year’s show has almost 100 food & drink exhibitors in the Food 

Hall. 

Farming - Each year thousands of pounds worth of farming business takes place at the 

show in machinery, livestock, and services. 

Renewable Energy - Following last year’s success ‘Renewables’ is back at the show. 

The show is keen to showcase advances in this technology, and a visit to this area could 

be well worth your time. 

Shopping & Fashion - From wellies to watches, feather hats to fabulous frocks, designer 

knits and country-wear, the show has many independent designers showcasing the 

best in contemporary fashion. 

Outdoor Living - Lifestyle pursuits, gardening, and handcrafts inspired by nature. 

Included in this section is falconry, gun dog, and terrier racing. 

Children’s Activities - A playground for little ones, a seat on a gigantic tractor, up close 

to cows, sheep, and ponies, and lots of things of little hands to make and do. 

The show is held in Ingliston, just outside Edinburgh. We are delighted to be returning 

to the ‘Premier Inn George’s Square’ in Glasgow City Centre, approximately a one hour 

drive to the show. 

Fri 21st: Letterkenny - Belfast - Cairnryan - Glasgow 

We travel by fast ferry from Belfast to Cairnryan, before continuing to our hotel by 

George’s Square, right in the centre of Glasgow. While here why not make the most of 

this bustling city or meet up with friends or relatives? 

Sat 22nd: Full Day at Royal Highland Show 

After breakfast we will make our way to Ingliston where you will have a full day to enjoy 

the many attractions at the show. 

Sun 23rd: Half Day at Show or Edinburgh - Cairnryan - Belfast - Letterkenny 

Today you can spend another half day at the show or take in the sites of Edinburgh 

before leaving at 3.00pm to make our return journey home.

National Ploughing Championships 

This year the National Ploughing Championships return to Stradbally, Co. Laois. The 

show is one of Europe’s largest outdoor exhibitions and agricultural trade shows and 

attracts on average 1,100 exhibitors, and almost 190,000 visitors. The event showcases 

Irish Food, Farming, and Culture, and incorporates all sectors including agri-machinery, 

livestock breeds, animal husbandry and management, motors, forestry, bio-energy, 

business management, and regulatory bodies. 

At the core of the event is the National Ploughing Championships where 330 ploughing 

competitors, both national and international, will compete to win All Ireland Titles. 

And if that’s not enough, there’s also a packed programme of special events and live 

entertainment including fashion shows, sheep dog trials, loy digging, sheep sheering, 

cookery demonstrations, celebrity appearances, and much more. 

Tues 24th: Letterkenny – Half Day at Championships – Tullow 

We depart Letterkenny early morning and arrive at the Ploughing Championships 

around lunchtime, to spend the afternoon at the show. This evening we travel to our 

hotel in Carlow, where we check-in and have dinner. 

Wed 25th: Full Day at National Ploughing Championships 

We will have the full day to wander through the many stalls, exhibitions, 

and competitions, before we return to the hotel for our second night. 

Thurs 26th: Tullow - Letterkenny 

Today we return home to Letterkenny stopping en-route.

This year the Balmoral Show moves from it’s traditional home at the Kings Hall 

Showgrounds, Belfast to the new showgrounds, Balmoral Park, just outside Belfast. 

This year’s 145th show will offer its usual extravaganza of colour, competition and 

showmanship along with daily displays of pedigree horses, ponies, cattle, sheep, 

poultry, pigs and goats. Hundreds of trade stands will be spread throughout the 

showgrounds, offering visitors a wide range of products from organic foods, holidays 

and leisure products to agri machinery, equipment and 4x4 vehicles. 

Wed 15th: Letterkenny – Balmoral Show, Belfast – Letterkenny 

We depart Letterkenny early morning and arrive at the showgrounds at approximately 

10.00am for a full day at the show. This evening we make our way back to Letterkenny. 

The Ould Lammas Fair takes place in Ballycastle, Co. Antrim on the last Monday and 

Tuesday in August. It’s one of the oldest fairs in Ireland and has been held without 

interruption for more than three centuries. Within the town, streets are lined with more 

than 400 stalls selling a wide variety of goods, from livestock to painted scrolls. But 

the busiest trade is always at the stalls offering the traditional Lammas treats of Yellow 

Man, a sticky honeycomb toffee; and Dulse, a reddish sea weed of the variety ‘palmaria 

palmata’ which has long been eaten and also used in medicine by the Irish - especially 

in the north. 

Mon 26th: Letterkenny – Ballycastle, Co Antrim – Letterkenny 

We depart Letterkenny early morning and arrive in Ballycastle at approximately 10.00am for 

a full day at the fair. This evening we make our way back to Letterkenny.

This morning our coach departs Letterkenny and travels to Belfast Airport where we 

get our flight direct to Krakow. On arrival a coach will bring us the short distance 

(approx. 20 minutes) to our hotel located right in the centre of Krakow. 

Fri & Sat: Two Free Days to Spend at Leisure in Krakow
