ENTRY TREES
Pyrus calleryana ‘ Aristocrat’ Aristocrat Callery Pear 11m x 7m
Angophora costata Smooth Barked Apple Myrtle 20m x 7m
Entry tree are tall and narrown columnar deciduous species planted in rows
which provides an entry statement to the development and helps to
emphasize the main entry points from a distance. The trees have a distinctive
canopy shape, green in summer spring with white flowers, turning bright
yellow during autum and dropping its leaf during the winter periods.
Entry trees from Bacchus Marsh Road will be Smooth Barked Apple Myrtle
due to the bio-retention swalw to the south. The row of native vegetation will
provide a tall canopy with understorey shrubs and grasses
TREES ALONG STREET INTERFACE
Eucalyptus melliodora Yellow Box 15-25m x 10-25m
Eucalyptus leucoxylon connata Yellow Gum 10-20m x 5-15m
Eucalyptus polyanthemos Red box 7-20m x 5-15m
The proposed Eucalyptus polyanthemos trees within the carpark area fronting
the Bacchus Marsh Road, is to provide a good canopy shade protection from
the harsh aftertoon sun as well as providing a clear trunk to allow views into
the development from the main road.
The proposed avenue of Eucalyptus melliodora and Eucalyptus leucoxylon
connata trees along Geelong Ring Road ramp access provides a strong
landscape character and screening to the blank walls facing the street.
CAR PARK TREES
Waterhousia floribunda Weeping Lillypily 15m x 10m
Carpark tree planting is a mix of native species in garden beds and tree pits.
The diamond shaped tree pits are 1.2m x 1.2m wide with flush kerb to allow
run-off water to run through the garden bed. The trees are protected by four
bollards located at each corner of the tree pit to ensure tree protection and
easy pedestrian flow around the trees with no hit and miss kerbs. Low
planting are planted in slotted kerb garden beds which allow run-off water to
percolate through the garden beds maximising WSUD principles. Carpark
trees are Waterhousia floribunda which will privide a clear trunk, lush green
foliage and shade potential.
CAR PARK FEATURE TREES ALONG PEDESTRIAN FOOTPATH
Pyrus calleryana ‘ Capital’ Callery Pear 10m x 4m
Tree planting along the main pedestrian footpath within the carpark area is to
be planted with small columnar deciduous trees in alternating tree pits. The
tree planting will highling major pedestrian access points within the
development and create a pleasant treed avenue.
BIO-RETENTION SWALE PLANTING
Angophora costata Smooth Barked Apple Myrtle 20m x 7m
Eucalyptus ovata Swamp Gum 25m x 15m
Eucalyptus camaldulensis River Red Gum 30m x 20m
Juncas flavidus Yellow Rush 0.5-1m x 0.5-1m
Patersonia occidentalis Native Iris 0.5m x 0.5m
Wahlenbergia communis Tufted Bluebell 0.5m x 0.2m
The proposed bio-retention swale is to conform with civil engineering details
and planted with low lying grasses or turf grass. Sacttered tree planting that
are water logge tolerant is to be planted in these areas to add height and form
in particular around main vehicular entries and where screening is necessary
CARPARK GARDEN BED PLANTING
Correa reflexa Common Correa 1.2m x 1.2m
Lomandra longifolia Spiny-Headed Mat-Rush 1m x 1m
Dianella tasmanica Tasman Flax Lily 0.8m x 0.8m
Westringia fruticosa Coastal Rosemary 1m x 1m
Myoporum parvifolium Creeping Boobialla spreading
Shrub planting in carpark areas are laid in an interesting pattern with
alternating shrubs and tufting plants. Granitic sand paths are located at
strategic locations to allow predestrian permeability and flow within larger
garden bed areas. Garden beds have slotted kerbs where appropriate to allow
run-off water to percolate through and maximise water infiltration.
