A Christmas Carol is directed by Kyle Hatley, the Associate Artistic Director of Kansas City Repertory
Theatre. A Christmas Carol marks the eighth production Kyle has directed while at the Rep, including
Little Shop of Horrors, The Borderland, Broke‐ology, Circle Mirror Transformation, A Christmas Carol
(2010 & 2011); and August: Osage County (Associate Director). Kyle, who received his training from
Rhodes College, was also seen as The Gentleman Caller in the Rep’s acclaimed production of The Glass
Menagerie in 2009 and Caleb in The Whipping Man in 2012.
Other local directing credits include Carousel (The Living Room); Titus Andronicus (The Living Room); Ben
Franklin’s Apprentice (Coterie Theatre); and Hamlet (Two Thirds). Kyle has also written and directed
Head, The Death of Cupid, Six, and Watering The Grave for the Kansas City Fringe Festival.
Regional credits acting and directing credits include Take Me Out (Steppenwolf Theatre); The Last
Supper (World Premiere, InFusion Theatre Company); Picasso At The Lapin Agile, Twelfth Night (Noble
Fool Theatre); Picasso At The Lapin Agile, Romeo and Juliet, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Gross
Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, Hamlet (title role), and The Woman In Black (Playhouse on
the Square). Additionally, he has been seen on television in “Prison Break” and “As the World Turns.”
In 2009, Kyle was named Best Director for The Pitch’s Best of Kansas City awards and in 2011 he was
named Charlotte Street Foundation Generative Artist Fellow. He is also the Artistic Director and a co‐
founder of Chatterbox Audio Theater, a non‐profit, web‐based theatre that produces fully soundscaped
audio plays for free streaming or download at www.chatterboxtheater.org.
