The Third Station:
Jesus Falls the First Time
Leader: We adore you, oh Christ, and we praise you.
All: (kneel) Because by your holy cross you have redeemed
the world.
Leader: (stand) The next day
again John was standing with two
of his disciples; and he looked at
Jesus as he walked, and said,
"Behold, the Lamb of God!" The
two disciples heard him say this,
and they followed Jesus. Jesus turned, and saw them following,
and said to them, "What do you seek?" And they said to
him, "Rabbi" (which means Teacher), "where are you staying?"
He said to them, "Come and see." (John 1:35-39)
Meditation: Like an expecting mother, Jesus, your burden is
heavy. You are tired, weak and can’t go on any longer. Your
friends have abandoned you and the crowd watches as you
fight to stand and not submit to the cultural pressures. We
pray for the scared mother-to-be who is contemplating the
world’s alternatives to motherhood. She has fallen from the
pressure of her burden. Jesus, help those who have been
given the gift of a child to see it as a blessing and not a cross
to bear. The weight of our sins upon the cross is already too
heavy to hold and you have fallen. But we trust you will stand
