The Tenth Station:<br />
Jesus is Stripped <strong>of</strong> His Clo<strong>the</strong>s<br />
Leader: We adore you, oh Christ, and we praise you.<br />
All: (kneel) Because by your holy cross you have redeemed<br />
<strong>the</strong> world.<br />
Leader: (stand) Do not love <strong>the</strong><br />
world or <strong>the</strong> things in <strong>the</strong> world.<br />
If any one loves <strong>the</strong> world, love<br />
for <strong>the</strong> Fa<strong>the</strong>r is not in him. For all<br />
that is in <strong>the</strong> world, <strong>the</strong> lust <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
flesh and <strong>the</strong> lust <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> eyes and<br />
<strong>the</strong> pride <strong>of</strong> life, is not <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
Fa<strong>the</strong>r but is <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> world. And <strong>the</strong> world passes away, and <strong>the</strong><br />
lust <strong>of</strong> it; but he who does <strong>the</strong> will <strong>of</strong> God abides for ever. (1<br />
John 2:12-14)<br />
Meditation: Oh Jesus, your persecu<strong>to</strong>rs attempted <strong>to</strong> strip<br />
you <strong>of</strong> all human dignity as <strong>the</strong>y <strong>to</strong>re your garments <strong>of</strong>f your<br />
tender and wounded body. This was <strong>the</strong> final act <strong>of</strong> humiliation<br />
before your ultimate sacrifice <strong>of</strong> love upon <strong>the</strong> cross. Yet<br />
in this public humiliation, Lord, you surrendered <strong>to</strong> God’s<br />
Will in perfect obedience, as you surrendered in silence <strong>to</strong><br />
those who tried <strong>to</strong> shame you before killing you. In turn,<br />
Lord, you clo<strong>the</strong>d yourself in <strong>the</strong> garments <strong>of</strong> meekness,<br />
humility, forgiveness, and love. It is your glory that shines<br />
bright through this act <strong>of</strong> humiliation.<br />
