These stations of the cross include scriptural texts taken from writings of St. John the Evangelist describing the inner meaning to each moment of Christ’s way of the cross. The meditations are the fruit of contemplation from various families within Holy Ghost parish. We devoutly pray these stations within the heart of Mary whose presence is made known to us through the Stabat Mater, the traditional Marian hymn that accompanies the stations of the cross. Images from Michelangelo’s Pieta assist in the Marian theme of contemplation of Christ’s suffering. As we spiritually walk the way of the cross with Christ we seek to enter into the mystery of each station knowing that as we confront our own way of the cross through life, Christ walks with us and empowers us to accomplish all things through his love. Stations of the cross dedicated to the pro-life cause seek to inspire us to live the culture of life with courage and integrity, with patience and with perseverance. Great thanks is owed to the families who contributed to making these stations a reality, as it is in their own lives as they walk the way of the cross and the culture of life. 1
