APPENDIX D Claims of Success of Hatchery Operations Apart from inclisputable evidence as to the useful part hatcheries played in the original liberations of trout in New Zealand ancl equally clear eviclence that stocks in certain lakes have been maintained by periodical releases of frsh sometimes procluced in hatcheries, clairrs of the value of hatchery operetions in New Zealand are more easy to frnd than eviclence tt-r support them.
