5. Keep all furnace doors closed.<br />

6. Control furnace draughts.<br />

7. Clear and discharge <strong>as</strong>h hoppers every shift.<br />

8. Watch chimney smoke and control fires.<br />

9. Check auto controls on fuel by stopp<strong>in</strong>g feed water for short periods<br />

occ<strong>as</strong>ionally.<br />

10. Attend to leakages periodically.<br />

11. Check all valves, dampers, etc. for correct operation once a week.<br />

12. Lubricate all mechanisms for smooth work<strong>in</strong>g<br />

13. Keep switchboards neat and clean and <strong>in</strong>dication systems <strong>in</strong> work<strong>in</strong>g order.<br />

14. Keep area clean and dust-free.<br />

15. Keep firefight<strong>in</strong>g arrangements <strong>in</strong> read<strong>in</strong>ess always. Rehearsals should be<br />

carried out once a month.
