Following an open call in November 2012, 40
participants were selected, and in January 2013, began
monthly sessions consisting of practical
workshops and theoretical debates, which aim to
nurture the participants’ knowledge and skills. The
artists and curators work towards new bodies of work
and “virtual exhibitions”, to be presented when the
courses conclude in June.
Campus Art Dubai has been developed in part to help
'bridge the gap' between formal education and
professional practice, and aims to help fast-track
participants for a career in the arts.
The program provides a setting within which
participants pursuing art practice, curatorial
work and critical writing engage with experts,
benefiting from their experience and guidance to
develop and hone their knowledge, appreciation and
skills. Each session, generally held at Traffic, is led by
visiting tutors -- internationally renowned artists,
curators, theorists and educators.
