grandson, Anthony Franze (A.J.), has accepted his
congressional appointment to the united States Air Force
Academy as a member of the class of 2016. A.J. will
be graduating high school in June. Three days later, he
will be leaving for the Academy in Colorado Springs,
Colorado.

Hadassah ~ Join us on Thursday, June 21 at 10 a.m. in the

Big Horn. Stephen is a retired defense attorney from new york City
and has been a long-time admirer of history. In Stephen’s view, we need
to study history to avoid becoming “a prisoner of our past decisions.”

Italian American Club ~ you do not need to be Italian to join
this fun group! We meet on the first Thursday of the month at
7:30 p.m. in the Social Hall. Our June meeting will feature Dr. Alan

JAFCO ~ (Jewish Adoption & Foster Care Options) - As school
comes to a close, JAFCO begins thinking of next semester and the
school supplies our children will need for a successful start of school.

Jewish Heritage Club ~ Join us for our feature presentation, “The

3D Art Class
Get in on the latest art craze. This art form doesn’t require natural
artistic ability. Three-hour classes are now being offered on Fridays
at 1 p.m. in the Arts and Crafts Room for only $15 per class. Tool

Beginner/Refresher Bridge Class
This class is offered by ACBL certified instructor Marilyn Kroll on
Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. The cost is $80 for six lessons with a
minimum class of eight people. A beginner bridge book is available

Beginner/Refresher Canasta
Want to take class this summer? Offered to men and women, this
class is taught by professional instructors Harriette lion and Rhoda
Bagen. A six week class of two-hour sessions is being offered on
Mondays at 10 a.m. at the Clubhouse. The cost is $75 per person and
classes begin on July 2. Sign up at the Box Office. A minimum of
four students are required.
Beginner/Refresher Poker & Pinochle
Valencia Reserve Resident Lou Orenstein has graciously offered to
teach Poker and Pinochle for free. The classes are for beginners and
those needing a refresher. Classes are held on Mondays and Fridays

Ceramics/Greenware Class
This class is offered every Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Arts

Delicious Mah Jongg Babes
learn this traditional favorite game or brush up
on your skills. Class is taught by our own VR

Mosaic and Collage Class

Tap Dance Class
Join us on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in the Aerobics Room for a 6-week
course with 45-minute sessions starting June 5. The cost is $90 or

class, but can take up to 15. The professional instructor has 25 years
of experience and promises good fun and exercise too! Drop checks

Total Health Systems Fitness Classes
In June, the cost is $24 for four classes if paid in advance. In July, the
cost is $30 for five classes if paid in advance. Walk-ins are welcome
for $10 if space permits.
20/20/20
This class features 20 minutes of aerobics, 20 minutes of standing
strength and balance work, and 20 minutes of floor work including
strength and stretching. Classes are held every Tuesday at 9 a.m. and
5:30 p.m. and every Thursday at 8 a.m. in the Aerobics Room.
Line Dancing
Join us every Thursday at 4:15 p.m. in the Aerobics Room for this
fun class. you won’t even know you’re exercising while you learn all
the latest moves!
Meditation
Reduce tension and stress while feeling happier, more relaxed and at
peace with yourself. Improve your health, mental clarity and vitality.
Develop a more intuitive, heart-centered way of life and discover and
explore your inner spiritual nature. This class meets every Thursday
at 5:30 p.m. in the Aerobics Room.
Water Aerobics
Increase balance, flexibility and range of motion safely while
improving your cardiovascular system using a noodle & water
weights. Classes are held every Monday and Wednesday morning
at 10:30 a.m. in the Pool.

Zumba
A fusion of latin and International music/
dance themes create a fun, dynamic and
effective fitness class. Zumba combines
easy-to-follow dance steps with fast and
slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the
body. Classes are held every Friday at 8
a.m. in the Aerobics Room.
THS is committed to your fitness needs. All of our certified personal
trainers, group exercise instructors and physical therapists want to
remind all our snowbirds and snowflakes about the importance of
staying fit and healthy while you are away. Continuing on with the
habit of exercise and proper nutrition will help you to feel good so

On The Courts
League Play ~ The Men’s and Women’s Spring Claymates
season has begun. The men have entered three teams into the
league and the women have entered one team. Join us to watch
some great tennis and cheer on our teams. The men play on
Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. The ladies team, captained by Donna
Perelman and Judy Kalb, play on Mondays and Wednesdays
at 9:30 a.m. and are in third place with four matches left to
play.
Pizza & Beer Mixer ~ This popular mixer continues
on the second Friday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The cost
is only $10 per person for a fun night out! Sign up on the
bulletin board at the Pro Shop.
Mixed Round Robin ~ Join us every Saturday at 8 a.m.
on the courts for a coed round robin. A donation of just a $1
per week covers costs. no reservations are necessary.
Men’s Doubles Round Robin ~ Every Wednesday at
7 p.m., the men are invited to come out and play in a doubles
round robin. It’s a great way to work on your game. Meet at
the Tennis Pro Shop. no reservations are necessary.
Mixed Couples Tennis ~ Every Tuesday at
7:30 p.m., couples are invited for a round robin. Sign up at the
Tennis Pro Shop or contact Ed Reinhart at ereinhart3@gmail.

Clinics ~ Improve your game at our ladies’ clinics every
Wednesday. The intermediate clinic begins at 4:30 p.m.
followed by the beginners clinic at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $10
a person. even if you have never hit a ball or have not played
since wooden rackets, come out and get back into tennis!
Grand Opening for Additional courts
Residents enjoyed a lovely breakfast to celebrate the opening
of the final four tennis courts on April 28. The rain may have
put a damper on the great pro exhibition planned, but Valencia
Reserve tennis enthusiasts showed up despite the weather to
enjoy breakfast, door prizes and to show support for the Men’s
Grand Slam Champions in World Division II. The team was
presented with a congratulations banner! Way to go!

working on his latest film,

and, what’s more, it seems

George is reluctant to cheat
on his wife with the beautiful
young actress. The growing
popularity of sound in movies further separates the potential
lovers, as George’s career begins to fade while Peppy’s star rises.
The Artist tells the story of their interlinked destinies. This film
won five Academy Awards including Best Picture. John Goodman,
James Cromwell and Penelope Ann Miller star in this film. It is
rated PG and the run time is 1 hour and 40 minutes.
Only $1 includes popcorn soft drinks and a movie on the big
screen in the Social Hall. Reservations are accepted up to 48
hours in advance at the Box Office.
