<strong>The</strong> literature available up to December 2003 on <strong>the</strong> glacial geomorphology, glacial stratigraphy and<br />
chronostratigraphy <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>British</strong> Isles has been thoroughly searched <strong>in</strong> order to compile an overview <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
landforms and sediments suitable for a reconstruction <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> limits and dynamics <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>last</strong> (Diml<strong>in</strong>gton<br />
Stadial) <strong>British</strong> <strong>Ice</strong> <strong>Sheet</strong>. Most <strong>of</strong> this <strong>in</strong>formation has been compiled on <strong>the</strong> Glacial Map <strong>of</strong> Brita<strong>in</strong> (Clark et<br />
al., 2004), which also conta<strong>in</strong>s <strong>in</strong>formation captured from published and unpublished, BGS ‘drift’ sheets.<br />
This <strong>in</strong>formation is not <strong>review</strong>ed here as much <strong>of</strong> it is not accompanied by published written explanation, but<br />
