landform research is <strong>the</strong> comprehensive mapp<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> subglacial bedforms at a regional scale from satellite imagery. If this is undertaken by a small team and from first pr<strong>in</strong>ciples, <strong>the</strong> exist<strong>in</strong>g variability <strong>in</strong> data quality can be elim<strong>in</strong>ated. F<strong>in</strong>ally, despite recent advances <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> dat<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> upper limits <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>British</strong> <strong>Ice</strong> <strong>Sheet</strong>, <strong>the</strong> tim<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> <strong>British</strong> <strong>Ice</strong> <strong>Sheet</strong> growth, decay and oscillation is poorly constra<strong>in</strong>ed. Only a more systematic programme <strong>of</strong> mora<strong>in</strong>e dat<strong>in</strong>g will allow Quaternary researchers to reconstruct <strong>the</strong> palaeogeography <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>British</strong> <strong>Ice</strong> <strong>Sheet</strong> and assess <strong>the</strong> pulse and synchrony <strong>of</strong> its response to amphi-Atlantic climate events.
