St. Albert<br />

Known as the Botanical Arts City, this community of about 60,000<br />

enjoys all things green and growing. Walk or cycle along 70 km (43 mi)<br />

of multi-use trails in Red Willow Park, running the length of the scenic<br />

river valley. Relax in Botanic Park among 18 acres of foliage and blooms.<br />

Visit western Canada’s largest outdoor farmers’ market. Catch a<br />

performance at one of the longest-running children’s festivals in<br />

North America. Just 13 km (8 mi) northwest of Edmonton.<br />

Spruce Grove<br />

On the Yellowhead Highway, 11 km (6.8 mi) west of Edmonton is the<br />

city of Spruce Grove. Explore over 30 km (18.6 mi) of all-weather trails in<br />

Heritage Grove Park. Learn about the history of the forest at one of the<br />

“outdoor classrooms” along the trail. See the Spruce Grove Grain Elevator<br />

Museum, which doubles as a home to the local farmers’ market.<br />

Leduc<br />

Just 15 minutes from the Edmonton International Airport, the city of Leduc<br />

is a hub for sports and leisure. The new Recreation Centre is one of<br />

<strong>Alberta</strong>’s largest and hosts provincial and national sports tournaments, with<br />

three NHL-sized rinks, an eight rink curling complex, aquatic complex, and<br />

four-lane track. Explore 46 km (28.5 mi) of paved multi-use trails, tee off on<br />

numerous golf courses, and enjoy watersports on nearby Telford Lake. Visit<br />

the Stone Barn Garden and see one of the last wooden grain elevators in<br />

Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival<br />

Fort Saskatchewan<br />

Overlooking the North Saskatchewan River, the city is filled with parks<br />

and green spaces. Explore the wetlands at West River’s Edge. Walk or<br />

cycle more than 50 km (31 mi) of paved trails that circle the city. Paddle<br />

the river. Step back to 1875 as you stroll through the heritage buildings at<br />

Fort Saskatchewan Museum & Historic Site.<br />
